OK I just tried a cube and it worked, but it wont work with this shape.
It does everything just not that particular model/group. So its just academic now.
SubD is the best fun I have had in sketchup in just about forever

Hi all, I just installed SubD 2.1.1 in 2017. As the image shows I can get it to subdivide but not smooth. Can somebody please suggest what I am doing wrong?
Cheers

Hi panixia, are those mushrooms 'infected'
When you open sketchup it asks you to choose template. Or window/preferences/template.
Thanks for your patients Tig and Rich!
I was wrong, Sketchup 2017 is on "C" But I cannot find materials.
Hi Tig,thank you for your reply. Can I set them up in "D" Drive as I have limited space on my "C" SSD (sketchup and just about everything else is on my "D"drive). I am reasonably experienced with SU but this part has me stumped. Unfortunately and frustratingly, I am dyslexic and some things and particularly this process kind of sounds like........Blah.......Blah.......Blah.....Blah. if you have the patients could we go step by step?
Hi all, I have forever been trying to add new materials to SU. I have always known how to get them in temporarily (in model) But am unable to load them permanently so I can access them directly from the materials window as part of my collection. The image shows where I get up to before I get lost.
Also I know they are .skm files, do i add the .skm file extension to the Jpeg? Could somebody talk me trough from where I am in the image please?

It's moody. I like moody. Very nice work
... same for me
- a great result - especially with the described effort.
My only proposal here: Because the mood reminds me of a wet, misty and cold November day, I would use people cutouts with warmer/thicker clothes, which fit better to this (guessed!) season...
Thanks and fair comment HornOxx. Truth is they were the closest people I had. I will try to get some more, more appropriate people and try again.
Thanks Rich, but I only have had a total of 2 hrs in Photoshop in my life. Because of thisI did not use any photoshop on this at all native SU and render app with no post processing at all.
Thanks guys really appreciate the comments.
Hi Numberosis, I think I know the issue. I found I offset the image by 1mm does work, of course, but the graffiti image did not show up in SU therefore I assumed it would not show up in the render if it did not show up in SU. I have attached images showing firstly the view in SU and the result of that same view in the render.
Hi all, I have about 2 hours total with photoshop experience. I therefore decided to try an experiment using just sketchup and a render engine only to produce an "atmospheric"image, I am sure it could be much improved by post processing but was happy with the results of the experiment. No Skatter or other plugin apart from a render engine was used. Please feel free to comment.
I did some more experiments and it is not the renderer it is sketchup. When I placed the trans PNG on the surface I had all sorts of weird results including randomly the transparent part of the image would cause the texture it was placed upon to turn transparent within the PNG's border. So the "grey" was a transparent portal into the inside of the column. I took some time to offset the placement of the PNG by a few mm, as suggested by Numberobis. And with some playing about had the results I wanted. However if the image is to far away from the surface=Drop shadows, too close= the results are if it was co_planar even though it is not.
Hi Ineshtine, the PNG,s are transparent as evidenced in the first image of the SU screenshot.
Cheers
Thanks JQL but I am using raylectron. I think I will try raylectron support.
Left that bit out of my text Cotty. I did right click and chose spherical.............ok i did it again and it works now.......wierd.
Thank you.
Hi all, I just decided to learn/use UV mapping. I downloaded Sketchuv, and followed the instruction (I think)
Downloaded SketchUV, created a sphere, selected the sphere, went to front view, applied a texture, hit the SketchUV icon...................nothing. Have attached an image. Could somebody please let me know what I have done wrong.
Cheers
Hi Guys, thanks for getting back I have attached images showing what I am trying to do. Have also attaches screenshots of the Su image and resultant raw render. Will try suggestions as soon as I can. Any further suggestions welcomed.
Thanks again guys.
