I haven't tested the option yet, but the SU2Fryrender has a function like that to get their instancing going. It's not exactly the same but the complex component gets substituted by a low poly version so SU doens't choke on it. At render export it will render the Hi poly version

I'm wondering, why the Ruby extension programmers do not make use of the Sketchup built-in Extension class, so the users can switch the extension on and off via Window > Preferences ... In every case (with a loader script or built-in support) you need to restart Sketchup when switchung off extensions, because you can't take away menu items. Would be possible to overwrite the methods in the Ruby extension when switching off via loader script, but anyway the extension is loaded. I have done a similal thing and made roof & wall sections at variuos roof pitches. The sections are a little over detailed so I can position them exactly where I want, but then I delete the internal bits of the roof construction that I dont need and normally just retain the perimeter (or group any brick veneer). there is a right click and save... or a select image and save as jpg. then you have to import the jpg into SU... and make sure to have the stonecad preview cut the edges for tiling...
