Autodesk also has the free TrueView application that besides having almost all the viewing and printing functionality of full AutoCad can convert newer DWG files to older (even very old) formats. There is a link (the "DWG From Autodesk" button)to the download on the main Autodesk webpage. Anssi

For a floor plan you should be able to print when you set the view to Top View, and choose Paralell Projection from the Camera menu. Then you should be able to print to scale.

@jim said: There is no API method to access the Axes in SketchUp. In other words, we can't change the Axes from Ruby. What about moving and rotating the entities inside a group/component and at the same time moving and rotating the group/component to counter, effectivly changing the axis?

Hi, Alternatively, you could use my "quick selection" script: it can filter objects by type in the drawing to make a selection. Here: http://www.crai.archi.fr/RubyLibraryDepot/Ruby/EM/quick_selection.zip Regards,

What a weird request. Tell us more. What will the building be used for? Is it for a client? Will it be built or are you just doing a concept? Do you have a picture of a particular ladybird (ladybug?)? I did a quick tut on creating a ladybug shape that might help. [image: o8mW_LadyBugShape.jpg] LadyBugShape.skp

Dear Jorgensen, You can lengthen/shorten lines of any orientation by doing the following. Select the Move tool Place the Move tool on the line to be altered (the line will change colour) Press and hold the Shift key and move the Move tool along the line to the end to be moved. Still holding down the Shift key, click on the end of the line and then drag to lengthen/shorten by a small amount. Release the Shift key and enter the required change in the VCB In many cases SU's native tools can do the job. Begards, Bob

Basically, the paths work like this: The camera will be set up at each vertex on the camera path. So, if you have 23 edges in the path curve, there will be 24 camera positions (one per vertex). If the target path has the same number of vertices as the camera path, the target will be at each vertex. Otherwise, the target point will be interpolated along the path so that there are the same number of target points as camera points. For example, if the target path had only 3 edges (4 vertices), the whole path length would be divided mathematically into 23 equal segment lengths, and the target points would be set at equal distances along the 3 edges. Hope that makes sense...

Thanks to everyone. It seems not so easy to do, so I just keep on useing colors to create differences in the drawing. Ultimate I use autocad, but I would just like to keep it in the same drawing. I will have a look at Thicklines.rb. I simply don't like Layout, to slow and to complicated (a fundamental thing like updating views/layouts is a pain). What is possible inside Layout, should be a intern part of SU, like model- / paperspace in AutoCad. But thats a nother story I like the combination of SU and Indesign - but SU is a bit of a pain to print from, but I get hold of it now using PDF995 Thanks all. Jorgensen

Jorgensen - generally speaking if you want a watermark (or line style) in an export to appear as you see it on screen, then a screen capture instead of an export might be the best way to go. That's what I do. Alternately, you could try exporting at the screen resolution or doing what the Google folk recommend if you are a SketchUp Pro user - inserting the model into LayOut and setting the resolution there as it offers more control. Hello- lowpolygon3d is a good source. If you look around the site, you can download a sample of each of their types (2d and 3d). Here is another site I have used- http://www.got3d.com/. http://www.archvision.com/RPCPeople.cfm Is another company that seems to have very high quality models. I am pretty sure you can download samples from both of those sites as well. And as always... http://www.google.com/search?q=low+poly+people&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a Google is always a great place to start. Good luck and let us know what you find. Aaron
