hey, i was recently at the Maker Faire in san mateo, california, and they had a google sketchup/youtube booth. they had people that actualy work on SU for google there! i got to talk with them, show them the forum, my stuff, talk about modeling techniques. IT WAS AWSOME!

anyway, they said that soon, there might be you tube integration. ie: press a button and you do waht ever you want (zoom, orbit, ect) and then upload it to youtube! this would be awsome for sharing models and tutorials. you guys like the idea? this would mean no more screen recorders ect. i think its a cool idea.

ok, never mind. i looked at the wikipedia article on ruby and im way out of my depth. i know baisic computer code, but this seems way complicated. you can go ahead and tell me what to do, but i probably wont try. thanks ayways.

im glad you like them, julius. ive got another one going right now (im in study hall with nothing to do). its just more reflective TINs, but with intersections added in. ie: i used "intersect with ______" along with the TINs. it looks cool, trust me.

oh, and happy birthday to me! (it my birthday)

    • RE: Problem with my Rendering (Podium) Doesn't show it properly

hey, i think your problem is that you didnt let it render! rendering can take a long time in some cases. did you jst pres the render button and save the first thing it spat out? if you use the drop down menu and set the render to "noisy settings" and press the render button and then leav it for about an hour or so, you should be fine. do you happen to be new to podium?

    • RE: Igor's renderings

here is another. i know, very basic shape that everyone has made like 5 times. but whatever.
my only complaint is that i couldnt find a way to smooth the edges, so i had to hide them instead, making a very blocky shading pattern. anyone know how to fix this?

      oh, ha ha.
      very funny.

and its not a ball its a sphere. see the difference?

*edit: here it is! (i know, not the cleanest render in terms of noisy-nes, but still good). ha ha! bryce came out backwards! lol

    • RE: Igor's renderings

ok, i lied. the render during math didnt turn out too well (the render didnt turn out well, everything else was fine). but ive go another baking right as i type. its nothing special, just me playing around w/ extremly high poly spheres. it almost crashed my computer! just one sphere has 5000 faces!

ps. can someone pleas reply? i mean, besides me. i would like some helpful critisism. plus no one has responded to this thread for a while besides me and possibly Remus. thanks!

i like it! PM me with the finished render, i want it too!

how ar you getting the effect you got in the above render? ie: the glass stuff all over the lighted ring in a previous post and lighted bottle in the above post? is it subd/smooth?

    • RE: Renders by Lone Wolf Drafting and Design

wow, great renders! mine dont even come close! by the way, you can be just a tad less formal on the forums, just incase you plan on posting regularly.

and the model is awsome! my computer would die thrying to load that model! infact, i think it would crash just thinking about loading it! great design, one of the best interiors ive seen. you should send the reders to the Artlantis people, they might get added to their gallery.

    • RE: Noisy Space Frames....

wow! 2 days and only 200-some-odd iterations! if you want to make it render faster, hide or delete all the geometry thats not going to be in the render frame. that way, podium doesnt have to recodnize all the "extra" geometry thats not even going to be rendered! it would help alot, especialy if you have the entire school (im assuming thats what it is) made and are only rendering the front.

how did you achieve that space frame effect? did you just go crazy with Follow Me and Intersect with Model?

great model, i would want to get that file so i could try my hand at rendering, but my SU would probably crash just thinking about importing that big a model!my computer might as well have no grafix card, so i cant handle those big, high poly models 😢

    • RE: Tiny little things

oh, i see! like you use one of the axis inference keys (ie: up/down for blue axis) and it selects all the faces parallel to that axis. right? i never thought of that, thats a great idea. good thinking, stinky.

    • RE: Tiny little things

gaieus, what remus means is this: when you push/pull a perfect square, it sould infer when it is a perfect cube. like when you are using the rectange tool, it will infer a "golden section" or "square". see what we mean?

i cant wait to get my greedy little hands on a 3-D printer!!!...

    • RE: "cutting" glitch and more push/pull problems

hey, thanks guys, taht helped a ton! the push/pull thing hasnt been resolved, but i did eliminate the clipping and heres how: i simply took the geometry i wanted to not clip and copyed it to my clipboard (ctrl + c) and then oppened a new file and ensured that there was no clipping going on. then i saved the file and then pasted the previously copyed geometry and it worked!

      thanks again for the help.
