Is there a solution for double-hung windows?

Not yet. But it's on my list.

I'm currently working on a FlexDoor - which is in working condition (using it on a project of mine), but it's still missing a few important features so it's not in release state yet...).

I've also started working on FlexCornerWindow...

Actually, I would be very glad to hear which types of windows you all would like to see Flexed...

      I have the same issue...
The minute you go into an aspect ratio it screws around with the focal length, and also changes what you see. Though at some times, the "first time" you enter the aspect ratio it doesn't necessarily change the view... Only if you punch in a new number right afterwards... If you punch a new number again it skews the aspect ratio even further...

FlexWindow 2.0 is out and about!

I've been working hard to perfect FlexWindow to make it more useful and adaptable.

The major update in this release: You can now choose between 4 different 'profile distribution options'! From now on, every profile will be exactly where you want it to be!

Please note that the 'pillars' have been removed in this new edition. I intend to reintroduce them in a new Flex component in the future...

For more information on the new 'distribution options' and on other improvements and changes, please see the first post, and/or visit:

I'm trying to place different formulas within the options values, but I'm having trouble with it. I want the user to choose an option. A formula will be output, and I want to be able to output anotherformula that corresponds to the user's choice.

I took the same file you uploaded, and added +5 to the first formula. When I try to check the index with "OPTIONINDEX", I get -1 instead of 1. Have you encountered this?
Why am I getting -1!? If I remove the +5... it works fine. This happens with other variations of formulas where I add a + sign...

**Presenting FlexSlat - The second proud member of the Flex-Family! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Following FlexWindow, FlexSlat is also ultra light, simple and versatile โ€“ for quick generation of...
      slat variations!**

      To purchase FlexSlat please visit:
      http://frandzel3d.com/flexslat/

FlexSlat consists of the following components:

      • frame profiles

      • frame corners

      • slats (2 separate instances for optimized usage โ€“ see โ€˜economodeโ€™ below)

      • Sketchup 2015 and up

      Usage:

      • scale or type in measurements
      • specify dimensions โ€“ frame and slats
      • specify spacing and rotation in X,Y,Z +- random positioning and rotation
      • set frame to 0 โ€“ frame hidden.
      • inset guide โ€“ specify distance for easy placement
      • frame guide โ€“ toggle guide visibility for when frame = 0.
      • offsets โ€“ to improve positioning
      • slat โ€“ length extension โ€“ extend slat edges until flush with frame.
      • slat โ€“ reduction โ€“ reduce amount of slats from top and bottom.

      Interact tool:

      • on slat โ€“ redraw slat position/rotation
      • on frame โ€“ redraw all

      Notes:

      Y/Z rotations:

      • OFF โ€“ (โ€˜economodeโ€™) โ€“ Y/Z rotations disabled. Component file size is kept to a minimum of 10 component instances no matter how many slats are generated.

      • ON โ€“ Y/Z rotations enabled. Each new slat generated adds an additional component instance to the model. Highly Recommended to โ€˜purge unusedโ€™ when done generating.

      • โ€œno-dimsโ€ version included โ€“ for multiple component edits while maintaining original dimensions.

      • โ€œdrag-n-dropโ€ version included โ€“ drag from folder or components library directly into model with no need to explode.
I'd love to hear comments and suggestions for further development & improvement ๐Ÿ˜„

I didn't think of that. That could be quite helpful!

I was thinking, that if one could set an attribute with another attribute, it could serve as a type of workaround to the issue of values/formulas being zeroed out when editing multiple DC's. So you could just reset the formula with a click or option.

Like maybe there would be an additional solution to the one's you've pointed out here:
      http://forums.sketchup.com/t/formulas-replaced-with-values-when-changing-multiple-dynamic-component-options/20177

I'm sure there could be many other use cases for this...

BTW. I've been following your various posts about DC's lately... So very insightful and helpful! ๐Ÿ˜„

Is there a way to change the default window's glass color and units to meters ??

      Thanks

      1. To change the glass color, like in any component in Sketchup, simply double-click your way in, until you reach the glass geometry and apply any color / material you wish...

If the glass has thickness, you might need to apply the material to the inside too, (hide one face, apply to all and unhide...)

      1. The component is set to use which ever units the model is in. So if your model is defined to display in meters, the component options should be in meters too.

      Hope that helps

      FlexWindow 1.3 released!

      What's new:

      • Inset guide - toggle on/off - for easy placement in existing openings.
      • Glass thickness control
      • "no-dims" version - without 'opening width & height' dimensions - Enables the ability to select and edit multiple FlexWindow components at once, and each will continue to maintain it's original dimensions.
If you've already purchased FlexWindow, you may download this update as well. To access the download, use the same link you received in your original registration email.

    • DC SET function not only with onClick?

      Hi,

One of the dynamic component onClick functions is called SET, where one can, with a click, change the value of another attribute.

      1. Is there an equivalent to the SET function, that would change the value of another attribute, but not necessarily with a click?
        Something like this:
        IF(something=1,SET("someOtherAttribute",17))

      2. On the same note, would there be a way to set the contents of an attribute to be a formula, rather than just a value (in this case with an onClick... or some other way...):
        onClick => SET("something",=otherValue)

      That way:
      something => =otherValue
So if let's say 'otherValue' = 7 so, 'something' will also equal 7 eventually...

    • Search and replace in dynamic 'component attributes' window?

Would there be a way to do a quick "search and replace" within the dynamic 'components attributes' window?

CTRL-F does does open a search box, though it isn't too easy to use, and there is no replace option.

Maybe through an attributes plugin? I'm not too familiar with the use of those. Maybe someone can recommend a way?

      Thanks!

And... To make things easy, you could simply insert the dynamic component into a 'regular' component, and copy the 'regular' one all over the place, and they will all be the same... even if you edit the one inside...

Dynamic components work a bit differently...

Once you change one of the dynamic components (that you have copied), it becomes a new component. ("#1") is added to the end of the 'definition name' (see in the entity info window).

If you wish to edit multiple dynamic components and wish that they all change in the same way, you must select all of them, and then make the changes. Note, that it won't always work like you'd expect it to - because it really depends how the dynamic component was written.

In the case of FlexWindow, currently, if you select all of them, then make the changes in the 'component options window', they will all change to look the same! even if one of them wasn't in the same proportions to begin with...

Also, editing multiple dynamic components in this way, may cause some unwanted side effects which I am currently looking into... some 'setting' can kinda stop working...

I actually intend to introduce in the next update to Flexwindow, a sub-version where one will be able to change settings to multiple instances, without affecting their scale. (thanks to user feedback!)
