We are now testing a possible bug fix for this issue. We'll update if it's successful.

      Hi Tomasz,

I just received an email about this. We were unaware of any issues with Thea render until now, but everything is possible.

Please contact me at https://flextools.cc/contact and we'll continue there.

Hi, will you give some news about this bug if solved, an update?

You need the left side to display the tree classification directory, which can only be returned level by level, which is very inconvenient. The tree folder operation is unified on the left side, and it is convenient to display only the model on the right side.

I am not totally sure I understand what you mean. What I can say is that when viewing 'In Model' components, it will display them the same way how Sketchup's In Model components are viewed in the Components Tray. You can either view the first level (root) component definitions OR all the sub-components in the model.

The current version does not seem to be able to completely remove the component toolbar that has been created, and it cannot be removed from the SU view toolbar.

      Hi Apollo,

Sometimes it can take sketchup 2 restarts to properly update the toolbar interface correctly.

Close the generated toolbar, restart sketchup. Make sure the toolbar is still closed (and was not opened again, or open in another session of sketchup) and restart sketchup again.

Please let me know that it works out ok.

      Hi,

      1. The crashes started happening after transitioning from the trial?

      2. Do the crashes happen if only FlexTools is installed and enabled? and no other extensions?

      3. It looks like you've tried this already, but just in case:
        a. Disable all extensions
        b. Restart Sketchup
        c. Enable FlexTools and the Dynamic Components extension.
        d. Restart Sketchup
        e. check if it still crashes after another restart...

      4. Please go to: C:\Users%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\F3d_FlexTools\logs and send all the log files that you find there to us at: https://flextools.cc/contact/

How do you show the swinging direction for your doors and windows in elevation?

Pointing to the Right? Or Wrong? 😉

      https://aws1.discourse-cdn.com/sketchup/original/3X/8/7/87c72c249001825b227022a732559e8394c34253.gif

We've always thought of this symbol as a triangular flag with the fixed side where the hinges are and the pointy side where the handle is. However, in some places the flag works the other way around, huh?!

As we are now working on a tag (layer) for 2D markings for FlexTools components, we need your advice!

Which way do you mark your swings?

“I live in 3D and think in 3D and so I find the most efficient way to get that 3D image out of my head and start working with it is to create it directly in Sketchup." – Derek Sallans, Longhouse Design

Derek’s workflow for concept design is so fast and intuitive, so very SketchUp-like (and FlexTools-like), we couldn’t help but share it with you! 😄

      Hi Filippo,

Yes, all the fences are examples of the customized FlexFence component, so you will need a FlexPack Pro license for them to work dynamically.

    • RE: FlexTools Updates

We thought it would be helpful if there was a collection of ready-to-use dynamic fences and railings. So we took some popular fences and railings and recreated them with the FlexFence component!

Each Flex Fence example can be customized further to best suit your design, and then saved for later immediate use.

      Download the collection here

What other fences/railings would you like to have dynamic?
Send us pictures or skp models of your go-to fence and railing types! 😄

    • RE: Issue with install

      Hi Filippo,

Very sorry about this. Please try the following:

      1. Close Sketchup.

      2. Go to: C:\Users[YOUR USER NAME]\AppData\Local\F3d_FlexTools and delete 3 files:
        pkg_serial
        pkg_serial.json
        serial.json

(If you can't see the AppData folder it's probably hidden. Instead, open a Windows Folder (any folder) and Paste C:\Users%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\F3d_FlexTools\ into the address bar. Then delete the 3 files above).

      1. Open Sketchup. You may need to reactivate FlexTools by going into the FlexTools Manager (gear icon) and entering your license key.

If there are any issues activating, have your Student send us an email - https://flextools.cc/contact/

Flex Fences (and railings) can be easily joined together:

In order to connect two FlexFences to form a corner:

      1. Place two fences in a 90 degree angle to each other, having them share the location of one of their posts.

      2. Hide one of the edge posts by clicking on it with the interact tool or through the options menu.

      3. If needed, you can choose to extend the picket positions of each fence to reach the other's post, rail or picket.

      Introducing FlexFence!

With this one dynamic component you can create roughly 70% of fences and railings out there, both wooden and metal style.

      Thanks Pibuz! 😄

Actually I could have used this myself the other day too... but we haven't gotten to adding this feature yet.

It is though way on the top of our list of features to add to ComponentFinder...

One more new feature in the latest update is the Recently Used tab.

You can now reach your recently used components in one click!

      ComponentFinder - Recently Used Tab.png

If you need to find the original folder where a recent component is stored:

Right Click > ‘Open Containing Folder in a New Tab’

      Open containing folder.png

Have you ever wished you could change default thumbnails with your own, see your rendered images instead of V-ray proxies? You can do that in ComponentFinder now!

Assign your own thumbnails with custom images:
Right Click > Set Custom Thumbnail > Choose a JPG or PNG

      ComponentFinder - Set Custom Thumbnails.png

The thumbnail image you assign will be automatically copied into the folder where the component is stored, and it will be named with the same name.

View in Windows - Custom thumbnails are saved along side the skp files.png

Would you find custom thumbnails useful?
