      Hi Mike

is there a script/Plugin that will help with pricing a project, I am involved with a small Construction company that builds Orangeries and Hi End Glass extensions, and it would be really helpful, if there were a way to have a cost read out a I draw, foundations, walls etc, maybe Dynamic component ? fraid Im not clever enough for the DIY script route.

the image shows my screen shot, and thats as far as it goes,
      suggestion please guys?

      Hi guys !

After several alpha versions, here is the first working beta version of my first plugin : Layers Panel.
It basically replaces Sketchup's layers window. It reproduces every features of it, except layer colors (for now), and adds the ability to group layers, sort them, hide/collapse groups, etc. More features are coming (Locking layers, etc)
It was designed to be very similar to Photoshop's layers panel, as I use it a lot and find it very handy.

      Warnings

      • Some people got corrupted files using this plugin, so be carefull, backup your work, and use at your own risk !
      • Remember it's still a beta version, so it certainly has bugs, and it may produce bugsplats.
      • It updates the active scene (updates only layers) every time you affect a layer(Hide/show it, rename it, add/remove one). It is the only way some things can work.
      • Although the undo/redo support was improved a lot since the alpha versions, sometimes it still messes up (rarely), which prevents you to redo some operations.
      • By using this plugin, you agree to send completely anonymous data, used to improve it.

It does not work on OSX !
      Recommended : Windows Vista-7-8, Sketchup 8-2013, Internet Explorer 9-10-11.

The way you sort/nest layers is simple, just grab the handle on the left of a layer/group, and drop it where you want. To choose the depth of the nesting, move the layer to the right or the left, like this :

All the doors and windows can be open or closed via layer control.
I've aligned all the wood grain correctly.
      All component'd up.
      Minimal materials, all named sensibly.

      6 internal single doors
      5 internal double doors
      1 internal lift door
      1 external single door
      5 external double doors
      2 internal windows

I don't know why Apple changed this in Lion maybe they thought people where to stupid to be messing with their computers. IN finder and the user folder open, go to the top tool bar where you see file, edit, view, go, hit the Go tab with mouse hold the mouse button down while hitting option key scroll down till you highlight Library folder. Impossible to do if you've been drinking

They are easy just gotta know a few tweaks. Still unsure why Google setup LO to be in User and SU and SB to be in MAC HD since most of the team use MAC.

Well worth the post, as I now know they drink a lot across the pond, and i now have Fork Lift

I thought MACs were meant to be easy πŸ˜’

To upload images [or many other file types] use the 'Upload attachment' tab below the 'reply pane' [TIP: Don't use the simpler 'Quick Reply' option - use the main 'Post a reply' button to get this... or you can also click on the 'Full editor' when within the simpler 'Quick' version to get these extra options]

Save some Layout 'scrap' as a new Scrapbook.
Give it a unique name - e.g. 'TIGsScrapbookTester'...
Afterwards use the 'Finder; to locate this very file by name.
This will confirm its path... πŸ˜• πŸ˜•

      Hi Tig
Thanks for your input on this, forklift found it? problem is.
it shows it where it should be, followed your advice and wind-bourn, saved a file followed track,
however when I go into USERS (outside of fork lift, the Library file is not there.

this is not the end of the world, I just like to know where things are.

in userLibrary, edit or delete layout files in your Scrapbooks folder

      ~/Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 8/LayOut/Scrapbooks

All that works, right up until /Layout? its not showing this folder as being there,

I can go into applications, and Layout is showing as being within the group, I then show package contents, where i can pick up the scrapbooks folder, but there not in there?

Gaieus answered the question I also thought you asked.
Sketchup does not work on the iPad - which uses neither a PC nor a MAC OS.
However, there are apps for the iPad, like 3Dvia, that allow you to 'view' your 3d SKP models on your iPad.
You can't do much to them - just view them and orbit around etc - there's no editing etc as with Sketchup.
The SKP format is the same whether it's made on a PC or a MAC - so the file's creator shouldn't be an issue.
As I understand it the SKPs are converted to a format suitable for 3Dvia to use before it's displayed anyway... So you are not actually viewing the SKP in 3Dvia, but rather the SKP's contents extracted into a compatible format that it can use...

      Thanks Tig
all I needed to know, its only for presentation with the clients.

follow you and Gaieus a lot,
Us mere mortals need all the help we can get from the gods of sketchup like the both of you.
The Zorro2.rb is a fantastic script and i only picked it up from the blog while looking for a purge.rb which i saw on a gaieus block
