    • FlightPath2 question to RickW

      hi rick,

i got a number of scripts by you from smustards and have a question about flight path2.

i understand everything about its usage but the first step. before anything else, do i have do draw a curve which will the be the path to be followed? can it be on the ground or does it have to be raised to height of the observer's eyes?

i'd appreciate any help you could give me.

      Edson,
      Usage:
Yes, you can use 1,2 or 3 points.
My Top Tip would be, always use 3 points.
That way results are more predictable.
Just imagine where you would have to place a real mirror to get the desired result you want.
Then go and click on 3 corners of that Mirror and Voila, geometry is perfectly mirrored.
      ...
You don't need to actually draw the mirror as I've shown in the example !!! - just click the 3 points.
      ...
      Hope this helps

      hey, howard

wonderfully clear explanation. your mirror analogy is just perfect. thanks a lot.

      Edson,

You know that mirror.rb uses one, two, or three points to define the reflection, right?

You never mentioned how many points you're using. So how many?

      -Gully

      hi gully,

thanks for the help. yes, i knew that but must confess I had not understood it well and mixed everything up. i was trying to mirror the box by entering two points and pressing return. i never entered that third point. now i realize i was reproducing a procedure that would work in another application.

as it happens with many scripts, the usage explanation at the beginning of mirror.rb is not very clear (or so it seemed to me). they way you explained it is very clear, though, and i could make it work exactly as you described it.

      thanks again.

      best wishes.

    • Mirror.rb blues

I am coming back with the same problem already mentioned by me on another thread:
      http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=127&t=1833
Since nobody came to my rescue and the problem persists I am here asking again for help.

objects do get mirroed but never as expected. the attached pict shows the original box, the reference line, the spot where the mirrored copy was expected to be and the spot it actually landed.

any thoughts as to why mirror.rb is behaving like that?

      regards.

hey, susan, you are a genius. i had remembered to close SU so that it would activate newly moved stuff.

i moved all files up and it worked! thanks.(almost included a smilie here but refrained from it as i remembered you are not too fond of them these days)

      juju and susan,

as you can see, there is no Copy along a Path on my plugins menu. and nothing seems to be missing from the pathcopy folder. i even tried to move the icons folder up, ie, outside where it is now. nothing worked.

perhaps the author himself would help me. thanks anyway.

    • PathCopy.rb does not show

i have downloaded pathcopy.rb from smustard, unzipped the file and placed it (the resulting folder) in my plugins folder. all well and good.

however, when i select a group or component it does not appear anywhere. i must have done something wrong, but what?

i'd appreciate if someone could elucidate this problem.

    • RE: A question

would it not help if you drew a coplanar shape based on one of the loops, made a face out of it, extruded it and then got rid of the two horizontal surfaces. you would be left with a fence-like object that could be used for intersecting with something else.

      hope it helps.

      darth,
your poetry is most welcome. do come out of lurking more often.

      tom,
the only thing that occurs to me is to tone down the sky. to my money it is competition with the elements you want to show.

      hi lr,

i am not sure i understand what you want. do you want to make each of these loops a cutting plane?

first of all they should be made into planes but it is not possible as the edges that make up the loops are not level (not at the same height).

    • RE: Townscape Study

hi charevir (please give us more info about you in your profile; a picture would be great),

I somehow expected to be found by another gremista (for those of you who do not know what the hell this is: grêmio is one of the main soccer clubs in south america. its fans usually wear its jersey everywhere, like me). we are doing fine this year: today we face Santos for the semi-finals of the Libertadores Cup. Dale grêmio!

Unfortunately for all mac users podium does not run on macs and I suspect it will never do as they seem to be averse to it. thanks for the tip anyway.

      saudações tricolores.

    • Townscape Study

this is an image from a study I am doing to refurbish a street in my home town. it consists in remodelling the sidewalks and putting urban furniture on them. I would not called it a render; perhaps work-in-progress stills would be more appropriate.

I did several studies, each one with one kind of elements. the one I am showing here consists of elements made out of cor-ten steel. on the foreground are a bunch of elements designed by me: a frame for posters and cultural info, a plant box, a bench and a light post with garbage can.

      cheers.
