Edson, I restitched the terrain. Is this what you wanted?
yes! thank you very much.
could you please tell me how you did it? like they say, better than giving the fish away is teaching how to get it from the sea.

Edson,
We'd probably need the skp file to say more (or to fix it).there you have it: http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/sas/Newbie/terreno_clubhouse.skp

RE: Filling gaps in a terrain
gai, understood perfectly. thanks.
however, my first question is still unanswered: how to fill those gaps? or how to add to a rolling surface?
regards to all.

I would suggest instead to drop in a flat surface and use intersect with selected and remove unwanted geometry after the intersect process.
susan, what exactly to you mean by drop in? without using the stamp tool?

It is hard to see from this.
Remember you can adjust the 'Offest' when you stamp. If you adjust it to 0 you may improve things.dylan,
i tried to stamp a simple rectangle to check if i could ajust the offset but could not find anywhere the box to enter the offset value. could please guide me through it?
thanks.

RE: Filling gaps in a terrain
sorry for the bad image. i have just posted a much better one for you to look at:
yes, gai, i was editing but perhaps not doing the right thing or not in the correct group.
dylan, i never heard of being able to adjust the offset.
thanks.

Filling gaps in a terrain
I created a terrain, stamped a building I am designing (actually, a clubhouse) and started to add a few details. the stamping resulted on a flat surface which was joined to the terrain by a some sloping surfaces. because I wanted the sides of the stamped surface to be vertical I deleted the sloping surfaces but that meant that I was left with some gaps betweens the buildings walls and the terrain's surface.
my question is: what should I do to close those gaps? I have tried adding to the terrain but failed. Any thoughts on that?
I have uploaded a pict with good definition at http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/sas/Newbie/clubhouse_top.jpg

RE: Downloads

Firefox has so many advantages over any other browser I know that I can't imagine switching. Especially the very many add on's make Firefox truely customisable.
one of the most useful of those add-ons is foxmarks: it stores your bookmarks (favorites in other browsers) somewhere in cyberspace. this means that you will never lose them in case something bad happens to your HD and, if you work in a network and want to have the same bookmarks in all machines (my case) foxmarks will synchronize them automatically.
cheers.

Well, I'm not a MAC user so I may be mistaken but there is, indeed, a Beta version for MAC, too here:
http://www.apple.com/safari/download/I don't know whether those posted these problems above use Safari 3 Beta (for MAC) or not. What I can tell that my version of Beta 3 (for Win) behaves exactly as faulty as described above - and of course I cannot compare it to earlier (non beta) releases for (as far as I know) this is the first release for Windows.
Also some of them testified that they had no problems with skp downloads on other sites so there may also be some problem on "our" end here, too.
they certainly released a beta version for mac, as you say, and very probably both versions are faulty. even being a mac user myself i do not use safari that much (except to access my bank account). i used netscape for some years and lately i have been using firefox.
cheers,

Yes, Edson, beta is "just" beta for sure. Yet above some complain with Safari on MAC (though maybe they also use some beta version?).
i doubt it because safari comes with the operating system. i never heard of any mac user buying safari. if i am not mistaken, you can even download it for free from apple's site.

RE: Downloads
i have just read on a brazilian paper that safari for windows is not yet working that well. may be the downloading problems have to do with its beta status.

for what it is worth, I am on mac and the reported [bad] behaviour is not happening to me. all the files download as skp.
I should also say that the browser I use is firefox. could the problem be with safari?

It seems to me that too many topics are at some point converted to Win vs Mac topics. Couldn't we skip it? Everything that can be said about that has been said over and over in other venues, does it have to be repeated here?

I agree. Let's cut the BS about Mac vs PC (although I have contributed to this myself at times).
I agree 100%. let us not turn this marvellous meeting place of generous people into "us" and "them". no matter what computer one uses our focus is doing great stuff with SU (+ whatever app happens to help us do it) and learning from each other.
learning, helping and enjoying our exchanges should be our mottos.
best wishes to all and thank you for everything so far.

RE: Section Edge Display
@unknownuser said:
Thanks for the fast reply, I don't suppose it's possible to get the 'face' of a section to 'fill' is it?
japes,
2 tips.
there is a ruby script that does just that. it is called SectionCutFace.rb and you can get it at the Ruby Library Depot:
http://www.crai.archi.fr/RubyLibraryDepot/Ruby/SectionCutFace.rba couple of threads in the old forum that deal with that:
http://forum.sketchup.com/showthread.php?t=41114&highlight=section+cuts
http://forum.sketchup.com/showthread.php?t=68163&highlight=fill+section+cutshope it helps you.

RE: Creating components
jmac,
do not forget there are 2 library/application support folders: one in your HD and another for the main user (actually, one for each user). you probably looked for it in the user's folder.
have a look at the image attached.

RE: Go-to-school
I totally agree with all of of you, jmac, dylan and kristoff.
go-2-school's podcasts are great (i've learned a lot from them) as is this forum. SU users are blessed by having the largest and best support network amongst all the apps I know. and for free, too.
I daresay that this forum will in time be better than the old one. the move to GG caused a rebellion that resulted in a place that is friendlier and one in which everybody seems to be assuming a very active role in creating, mantaining and making it grow.
best to all.
