RE: [Plugin] Snap to Unit
What this plugin exactly does? I'm not sure that I understand from description. Can you post a movie, or a better detailed explanation?
-
RE: [Plugin] Memory Copy (xformclone.rb)
I think the plugin should be on first post, also with changelog and updates (if any). It's easier to follow and if the topic gets large, the user doesn't have to crawl on all posts to find the download
Thanks. -
RE: How To Optimize Your Plugins
Well, other thing that could help users to decide about plugins would be a poll on each plugin page on SCF, where users to vote if they use it. Or some other way to see which plugins are most used. I noticed that are several plugins which make similar things, but It's a little hard to choose which is best.
The only way I can think now, would be "by popularity". I can see this is not the best idea, maybe someone else will have a better one. -
RE: Sp Wiki=Out of date/abandoned?
So... the only way to properly use all the features of SP3.2 is if you previously used earlier versions (and followed up all discussions about new features)? It's a little strange... it discourages me, as new (wanna be) SketchyPhysics user. I didn't installed it yet, because I wanted to read something about it... to be sure that I'll be able to fully use it.
I just hope that somebody will think to us the newbies too...

RE: SketchyPhysics3.2 (Dec 2)
Indeed a user manual for users that did not used ketchyPhysics before would be nice. I noticed that some beginners tips are to be fond here http://sketchyphysics.wikia.com/wiki/SketchyPhysicsWiki , but I'm sure that version 3.2 have much-much more features than are detailed there.
Thanks. -
RE: [Plugin] Component Edit Window v1.3 12072011
I noticed different toolbars in Component Editing Window. Is that a feature included in plugin? will have just custom selected toolbars in new opened window?
-
RE: Top 3 SU plugins
Wouldn't be nice to add a poll to the topic and the people to vote their plugins? I realize it would be a pretty long list), but we could see in this case which are the most used/appreciated/useful.

Are you quoting the price of AutoCad LT? The viewing application Autodesk DWG TrueView IS free,
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc/index?siteID=123112&id=6703438&DCMP=ILC-DWG-PUV
( I noticed that they are advertising for LT on the right of the page, while the "Download now" button on the left, in the text column is much smaller...clever businessmen?)
AnssiThanks Anssi! I got caught myself in that marketing trap, I guess... Now I downloaded the free version.

How is better and faster?
I noticed that are lots of small plugins that do all sort of stuff, but thinking on matter of what they do, many of them could be grouped.
Let's say Cline Tool and Point ... I repeat: it's just an example.
My question is this: how could be more faster for SketchUp to start? To have both plugins in Plugins folder and loaded separately, or to have a single plugin that consists in two tools, and therefore a single loader file in Plugins folder?
Or there is no difference? As ruby is a interpreted software, I think all ruby files are parsed before loading. Or just the loader is parsed (and the require statements in that file) ? -

installing the DWG TrueView (free download from Autodesk) might give the same functionality. Also, TrueView is very useful by itself as a viewer and converter. Besides viewing and printing it can convert to old DWG and DXF formats down to AutoCad version 10 or 12 (from the early 1990s).
AnssiIndeed, is free download, but is trial version . It costs $1200.
Thanks anyway. I'll be looking for free alternatives (or very low-cost, if it worths the money). -
RE: Who knows a 3D Panorama freeware prog. (virtual tour) ?
I just found This Website and downloaded the application. I can say it's awesome. If you have your own website, I think it's the best way until now, to upload your 3d panoramas.
Nevertheless, if you know any better alternative, let me know.
Known bug: it doesn't zoom with mouse scroll wheel in Win7 (on Xp tested and it works fine). Though, it might be just a problem of my computer. -

hmmm... Could this be a MysticThumb issue? Any of you lot have it installed?
I have gotten confirmed a case where MT could cause SU to crash.I don't have that installed, but I have other two thumbnail generators:
Real World (I use it just for 3ds files) and This for dwg files. I could not find something to generate thumbnails for all of them. Now, that you mention it, I think that those two programs to make my days bad.
Is there any better alternative? I really need to see dwg/dxf and 3ds thumbnails.

RE: Is it possible? To use plugins from USB stick

The version I downloaded at that time was completely illegal but maybe you can make this kind of work legally if you own all the license ?
I don't know what are the terms of use for SketchUp, but for normal use, its license is freeware. I guess that tweaking it to run from portable device wouldn't be illegal.
On the other hand, I have no idea how this can be done.
Thanks for the tip, anyway. Maybe we will see more ideas here. -

Try this...
So, there is no solution to avoid that artefact?
What I want is the exact effect that you can see in the armchair image (red circle). But what I get is a strange face turn that I can not explain. -
Please help with SDS model
I am trying to make a sofa and I have some strange behaviour at one corner. See attached armchair picture for wanted result and SU model.
Thank you for helping me.

Or this in the Ruby Console:
load(UI.openpanel)
Well, for 1-2 plugins this can be an option, but after a while it becomes annoying. I was thinking to some way to "tell" sketchup to look in a specific place for plugins.
In the meantime I found this piece of software that can customize a usb drive (letter, hidden or not, and so on). So, the drive issue is solved. I can map my USB with Z:, for example, to be sure that it will not be taken by other drive.
The only problem that remains is to load in SU automatically. (noload(UI.openpanel)

As for using this method with a thumb drive, I'm not sure it would work, and even if it did, without your thumb drive in, you'd have no plugins at all.
-Brodie
The reason I want to run plugins from thumb drive is because I have some paid plugins and I don't want to let them on a PC at office. (ok, there is an option: password on my account, but is not possible, as each employee must have access to any station)

Is it possible? To use plugins from USB stick
Hello, I am wondering if it's possible to use Sketchup plugins from USB stick. I would like to take with me all the plugins I use at work for some personal reasons.
How to "tell" to Sketchup where to find the plugins and how to be sure that my usb stick don't change drive letter if I insert something else in usb ports?Thank you.

RE: More Characters
Indeed Sculptris is a very fast way to model organic shapes. I was amazed.
Attached image made in a couple of minutes, first time when I used Sculptris.
Please don't laugh of my model it was just a foolish try and I had no idea what I want to do.
