This feature should be added in a future SU release, also with a keyword filter box, like in outliner. Maybe Google guys will think the same πŸ˜„

It was hard for me to go on chrome, but now I can't get a solid reason to try FF. If you try FF4, please post feedback and maybe arguments why one should use it. No, I don't want to transform this into a campaign, just interested in advantages from a objective point of view.

Can't you set how many threads Twilight uses so you've resources for both? But if you've already started then it's too late... πŸ˜’

It's tarted and quite advanced... Unfortunately I can't change the threads. The option doesn't become available even if I pause the render. It seems it can be done only before starting.

So unless it is unbearably slow, I would still recommend using another SU instance and pause the rendering process if you have to do something.

Well, if I risk to crash my SU instance, I will rather pause the render. Thank you. πŸ‘

as the render will be using memory resources it will almost certainly slow down the second SKP's processing

I already experience this and is so slow that I can not work... so, I'm thinking to work in same instance where the rendering is going on... it's more responsive. But I never did this and I'm afraid to not cancel my render, or stop it. It's a complicated model and it takes much to look acceptable (i render it on progressive)... so if I stop it, I'm fu***d πŸ’š
Can anyone test this and tell me if the rendering continues even the current model is replaced by a new work?

    • Can I work on different model while rendering with TW?

Hello, I need a quick answer to this: Can I open and work on a different model while rendering something with twilight?
I render something, but in the meantime I have to do something urgent. I tried to open a secondary instance of SU, but it's sow responsive. I don't want to mess up with my current rendering, so I must be sure if I can start a new project in Sketchup while Twilight Render is working.

      Thanks.

    • Scale definition to all components in Model? How?

I often use 3dWarehouse models that are made on a different scale that I use, or I just make my models at a bigger scale to avoid minimum segment length issue, when modelling details. And for fitting anything in model, I scale them.
In the end I need to scale the definitions too (to fit textures, for example), but there are so many of them that it turns to be a horrible work. If I have mirrored objects, scaling definition to one triggers the option to the mirrored one and in this way I forget which one was scaled and which one πŸ˜† .
A plugin for that would be useful, if please, some of the Ruby Gurus here will take into consideration my request.

      Thank you very much.

Thank you very much for this, but it seems to be some problem. See the images.
If I look from downside, the line is mirrored. Instead of ascending from camera eye to back, where is the sun, it goes in opposite direction.

    • [request] Cline from Camera Eye to Sun

Hy, I need to position a Light Emitting plane for my scene, to replace SUN for rendering, but I want to position it exactly in place of sun (to have same shadows). For that, I need an axis to point from Camera View to Sun direction. Any plugin for that? Or is possible with some code directly from ruby console?

There are several options in Scenes Window, one of them is Shadow Settings, is you disable it, the scenes will not save their own shadow settings, but all will use same (current) setting.

    • UV Mapping problem, please help

I downloaded This File from 3DWarehouse and I want to add thickness to petals (using JPP), to be able to render with SSS material in Twilight render, but I can't apply mirrored texture on the extruded side of the petal.
Please guide me how to do it. What plugins do I need to apply mirrored UV on that?

I repeat: as Twilight Render manual specifies, for good results, with SSS, the object must have thickness, so I don't want to mirror the material from front to back, but from the "inside" of the flower, to the "outside".

      Thank you for help.

It takes whatever object(s) you have selected and moves them to the nearest "grid" setting. .

So, if I have snapping set at 1cm and I have an object situated at 10,5cm from origin, it will be snapped to 100? (I assume that my "grid" cell is 1cm, right?)
