    • Maybe somebody (from Google crew) will think to fix this ?

It seems that a bug of Google SketchUp prevents to read all data stored in SKM, and also prevents some things to be written inside a SKM file... more details can be found here

EDIT: changed the link, now accessible - http://twilightrender.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3173&start=10#p24884

It's strange that if SOME of data gets inside that SKM file, it can't be read after that... and if SOME of data can be written, why can't be everything?

Sometimes groups are NOT unique, [...] It's really a 'bug' in Sketchup,

I don't know if is a bug, but it comes in handy... there is a plugin that selects all group copies (and can convert them into components) and I'm sure that is possible only because that groups are recognized as instances.
But, nevertheless this plugin is a treasure! I often need to make unique a component with nested elements and I had to make unique each "child" until now.

Very nice model! you can try to use some realistic materials (metal, plastic) for elements and render it. It remembers me of some war games πŸ˜„

      material.texture.filename ??

As this code looks like, I'm sure it returns the filename of the texture INSIDE the SKM. I'm interested to retrieve the path where my SKM is saved on hard-drive, like C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 8\Materials\Groundcover\Groundcover_BarkChips.skm

Is it possible to find the path of a Skm file loaded from a library ?
I know there are methods to work with material that are in model, but if I load a material from a library, is any way to retrieve the path where that material rests on my hard-drive?

True that many of these are now "pro only" features.

Let's hope that if better UV mapping will be implemented into SketchUp, will be somehow available in free version too, otherwise, exchanging models between pro and free might be strange...

Three segments is the minimum for an arc, in the native arc tool too.

Please, allow me to disagree... native arc tool allows to draw arc from only two segments.
      Here is the proof.

    • RE: Please help with FILLET Plugin

I need a tool that can accept two segments also, as I use (for small radii) only two segments. It's enough for most cases, as after I smooth it, it's just what I need.

    • Please help with FILLET Plugin

I have this 2D Fillet plugin that you can find here http://www.ohyeahcad.com/download/ (the first one). But I can't control the number of segments of corner arc.
I am asking for help with this. I would like a simple way to change the number of the segments. Let's say, if I add the letter S after the number inserted in VCB, to be interpreted as number of segments, then to imput the normal radius.
Is it hard? Can it be done? Are you willing to help me with this?

      Thank you very much.

    • What do you think is the best UV mapping software ?

Hello, I'm trying to stick on a good UV mapping software to use it with SketchUp.

For now I tried RoadKill, Headus UVLayout(demo) and LithUnwrap (I couldn't do anything with last one).
I used RoadKill for simple meshes as it's fast and simple, nothing fancy. But I'm not impressed as often it makes distorted mapping. UVLayout impressed me, mostly with its Optimization feature... but it's kind of tangled.

I'm thinking...if any of you used any other UV Mapping software and are willing to give some feedback...

Also, I made this pool, maybe it will give a better image in time.
The links for what is in the pool are here:
      RoadKill
      Headus UVLayout
      Ultimate Unwrap 3D
      UVMapper
      Unfold 3D
      LithUnwrap
      AC3D
      Wings3D

...if there are more UV Software that you are using and are not in this list, please let me know (or the admins) to add them.

      Thank you.

When you have 100 clicks to make with the normal tool yes this can be some useful πŸ˜‰

I'm not talking about the tool, that's more than amazing! I always dreamed to a tool like that... but a webdialog just seemed too much in my head.

Doesn't seem too "complicated" with that webdialog, when all input data could be inset in VCB? And the direction could be set with a mouse click.
Indeed, is fancy that way...but is it really necessary ?
      Just a thought, thanks.
