    • Need help with nursery furniture dimension standards

Hello, I have to design some furniture for a nursery that's building in my town, but I don't really have much info regarding dimensions standards for tables, chairs, beds... and whatever may be needed. If you have some documentation about this kind of furniture, and you are willing to, please share it with me.
I have designed furniture for kindergartens, but here are slightly different standards.
I also searched the internet and found something, like this http://www.communityplaythings.com/resources/articles/chairchart.html , but if there is some more and detailed, I would like to know.

      Thank you very much.

    • Please help with CPU choice AMD vs INTEL for render?

I'm thinking to change my pc, but I'm not willing to invest huge amounts of money, yet get something better than I have.

For intel, the obvious choice would be i7 over 3GHz, but I am also thinking to AMD as it's cheaper (both cpu and mb). The question is if it's worth to buy amd if the machine will be used for rendering. And, which amd would you recommend ?

      Thanks.

[offtopic] Steve are you getting anywhere with this?

I'm trying very hard to make a halfway intelligent decision, and right now I'm leaning towards Kerkythea. In a large part this is based on the following numbers --

      [attachment=0:vs9xpzk9]<!-- ia0 -->a.png<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:vs9xpzk9]

A program's forums are very important to me. If the forums here were diminished by two-thirds I can't imagine them being nearly as helpful as they are now.

Maybe there's a flaw in my logic, or maybe there are factors that outweigh the importance I place on forums, if so please let me know.

As you may probably know, Kerkythea and Twilight share same rendering engine... the main difference is the User Interface and the complexity of settings.
Kerkythea allows you to more complex settings, material properties, but its interface is nothing but friendly and the material editor is even worse, on the other hand it can handle x64 CPU's and last version has a great rendering speed improvement in comparison with Twilight.
Twilight's interface is less complex, but can make competitive materials for common use. The main advantage of twilight is its ease and the speed of use. Also, if you have a paid license, you can export as XML and benefit of Kerkythea's rendering speed.

If you don't need really complex materials, Twilight will serve you well (especially if you make the final render using KT)... but in the end, the decision must be all yours.

Also, statistics don't get always the best results... you will not need answers from 8000 members, but only one... if it's the answer you seek. So, in theory, a forum with one member will be as good as one with 8000 πŸ˜„

      Good Luck!

    • RE: [Plugin] DXF_export v0.0.4 (2011-10-28)

Nice fixing on this plugin. Thank you ! It's a very useful tool for me.
If I may, I would like to ask for some feature requests as follows:
.1 -save layers (I don't know if it does it now, but I had some edges distributed on layers and all of them were saved on Layer 0 in DXF)
.2 -Save As name of the selected object (Component/Group), or Parent's name (if I select raw geometry inside a Comp/Group)

optional (.3 -Bulk Save As separate files, if several Components/Groups are selected. Each one using its own name.)

      Thank you very much !

    • RE: Trimble Version

First of all, I hate the new logo... this is the first step Trimble made to mark their ownership over SketchUp and was a wrong one. This is all they can?? a crappy red... stair-like cube? I'm wondering what will happen with the application itself... I'm afraid that SketchUp as we know it, will die.
I embrace change, but only if it goes up... any degradation is not to be desired.

If Trimble team reads SketchUcation forum and pays attention to users needs, please respond, in this way we will know that you are here.

Anyway ... there is SketchUp 8 M3 ... if future versions will be as crappy as the new logo.

P.S. - please repair your mistake: make a logo contest here, on forum!

    • RE: How to apply texture to follow the shape?

[off:1ufahwrn]Off-topic in relation with Off-Topic (this makes it on-topic about initial discussion here, right? - but also, off-topic about the last discussions here πŸ’š )

I had no idea that plugin exists, and it seems old, as is mentioned to be compatible with SU6.
Question: this plugin UV mapping results in a lot of textures for all faces, when exporting to some rendering software ? (like Maxwell?)[/off:1ufahwrn]

    • RE: How to measure a part of curve?

or you can just make sure that curve has enough segments (the more segments - the greater the precision), then explode it, select the segments that cover the length you want to measure, and look in Entity Info, there you will see the length.

    • I'm in need of a house facade with garage

Hy, does anyone have and is willing to share with me, a house with one or two garage entrances ? Preferably something with European aspect, or some modern.
I don't really need the entire house, just the front view (and if there is some part of the roof in the view) and some of the entrance yard (some vegetation, the garage alley).
I need that for presenting some garage doors.

If you need something in exchange, mostly interior elements, let me know.

      Thanks.
