    • RE: Hide rest of model

I've been asking for this for years. Doesn't get a lot of traction. To be able to hide/unhide the whole of the model except in the next higher up nested object in a group or component. .. that woud be sweet.

Oh yes. Always good for a chuckle or two. A nice bit of Blake Edwards' subtle wit.

BTW . . .I could probably do this in Sketchup. Professor Fate's Noise Seeking torpedo. My son and I did this years ago for his first cub scout pinewood derby car. great little conversation piece. It lost in the race. .but won first place in Design.

you're right. . .forgive moi. Note the 19th century ear horn.

right now it's in our Pinewood Derby mothballs where it has been for the past 20 years--right next to the Lost Ark.. I guess I oughtta get it back out and spiff it up.

      Nah.

    • RE: Animation software

Thanks for these responses. I am not sure if these would help me or not.

My thea Animation render created a whole grundle of images to compose into an animation .. a simple turntable type test. . .I need to dump those into an animation software. I had one at one time but I can't remember what it was called. IT was like Movie maker but obviously menat for making a little movie rather than a slide show.

      Thx

Can anyone help me here?(insert your own obvious punchline here)

I'm looking for a decent software for dumping my Thea Animation slides to create a test AVI or whatever. I don't do this a lot so I was just wondering if there is a freebie out there or a trial type that could just show me some test results.

      Thx,

    • RE: Eye dropper tool

I've always just used Alt-B for my Materials shortcut and then the Alt key for my eyedropper. 2 steps. . but it has worked for me. Does that help?

    • RE: Corona Renderer for Sketchup

as Pete Said. . .in the right hands many render engines can create amazing results.

With Thea. . .even a hack...er ahem .. novice.. . like me can get some pretty good results. Imagine what i can do in the hands of you Rendering wizards. Corona looks great too, but . I think its superpowers would be wasted on me.

    • RE: SketchUp 2016 is here....

      Yeah! what he said! πŸ’š

So.. .I didn't explain it well . .as I figured I wouldn't. All I meant was that if you have a structure of nested components--a nice feature for me would be to have a control on the visibility of said components when editing so that when instead of "hide rest of Model" you get can see all or some of the other components in the tree but not the rest of the model. For example . . if I have a component B in Model A I can work on Nested F component but maybe only see E or D not everything else?

      A>B>C>D>E>F

There. That should make it much more clear right? πŸ˜’

Now I feel bad cuz I hi=jacked this thread. I'll shuddup now.

    • RE: SketchUp 2016 is here....

Odd wishes. Why only 3, not 4?
If it so crucial you could copy 3 instances of the component you are tweaking to the empty file on the next display and tweak there more discreetly. And paste it back when its OK.

well . .. of course I have been doing that as a workaround, but it seems to me to be a thing that would be a nice feature. but since I seem to be the only one clamoring for this. .

    • RE: SketchUp 2016 is here....

well .. .Im a tad underwhelmed. I think I will hold out for 2017 where I am sure ALL the major wish items will be finally included.

Frankly. . I have been wishing for one feature since version 5 and it doesn't seem to get any traction at all. I don't know if I know how to describe it very well or what. . but the one thing I would love sketch up to is to Hide visibility of nested components when you ware working on them. If I have window C and I have multiple C's in that component to able to hide all but the next C up in the tree for clarity sake would be awesome. right now with "hide rest of Model" it's an all or nothing thing.
