It was basically a change of owner last Summer and the core product is little changed... But please remember that the Free versions don't include some smart things like solid-tools, DC-editing and some export/import tools etc. BUT you can have say v7 AND v8 free installed side by side and get some export/import tools now only available in v7. You can use save_as to make v7 SKPs from v8 if desired, and v7 SKPs open in v8 fine, so you can mix-and-match between versions, normally using v8 for its better functions and v7 for odd processes not not available in v8-free...

Well I found a way that seems to work - will test more after church. I printed the object in SU using the free CutePDF client at high quality with HLR checked; saved it as a PDF. Illustrator (and Flash versions 8 or older) opens this fine and the strokes remain strokes so you can edit them. All the corners came in perfect.

Glad that sorted it out for you. I would suggest you change your default style and make the back face color something more noticeable so you can catch reversed faces and correct them right away. Actually no vacany at my job - I work in a construction company doing some marketing/social networking/ design stuff. I got a degree in traditional and flash animation a few years ago but with the economy I have not been able to work in my field (plus I am getting old and I think it seems odd for a noobie old guy applies for a job ). This is just a little side work from someone I know - a bit nervous since I have done little animation in the past 3 years since I graduated but taking the chance since I need the work. Thanks Alan. I have pretty good Photoshop skills and for a while was active on an indie game forum where I started a "Texture a Day" thread. I like creating textures but my 3D skills are lacking. It seems more jobs require 3D modeling and texture design using 3D and not a lot of call for Photoshop alone. I really want to get competent with modeling asap as I would like to do some side jobs. I may take some classes if I can swing it. This thread at conceptart.org is what made me look at SketchUp http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=173014 and I have since found an increasing number of concept artists using it for game, animation and even comic books which are areas that appeal to me.
