      Please BTM use page 1 for posting the updates. The thread shows 1....6,7,8,9,10. It's a pain to get page 4 ๐Ÿ˜‰

      โ€ฆ And that's the point ๐Ÿ˜Ž I don't need everyone downloading it yet, it's not the finished version. Right now I just need the people who really want to download it to, so that I can get feedback from those people on what should be done. When I think I can release a version 1.0, I'll make a new thread for it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      Also, I'm trying to get entities.add_circle to draw the circle for view.draw, but I don't know how to get the resulting points to use, without actually making the circle. Anyone have any ideas? ๐Ÿ˜„

      I'm just a bit wondering on the purpose of the push tool. In fact, it does a kind of flatten effect, and often creates intersection bugs between triangles... so I'm not sure of the real interest of it, but maybe I'm not using it in the right way.

      Push just pushes vertices (points) away from the tool. When holding shift, it does the opposite. Depending on whether you use it on or next to the mesh, it will give fairly different results. It's best to have the push tool at a lower strength if you're using it on a mesh.

      hi btm
      I've been playing with the plugin, which as you know already it's great (can imagine the smove tool stop being used that much now for land sculpting...) but i have some suggestions if you don't mind.

      • i'm also one that would like to have visual helpers like a circle showing the radios when sculpting;
      • is possible so have an option to have a "symmetry option" on? Because when i know i can use 2 components for half of each face but that won't really work that well because the faces in the extremities will move too making a hole in the middle (see pic below);
      • an option that i can turn off or on for when sculpting if i keep pressing the mouse he will keep smoothing/bulging/etc or will just do it once for each stroke (hope I'm making myself clear).

      Again thanks for this plugin and i hope you don't think i'm being ungrateful and asking for too much.
      thanks

      David

      Visual help is what I'm working on ๐Ÿ˜Ž I just need to figure out how to draw a circle with view.draw ๐Ÿ˜’

      Symmetryโ€ฆ I know what you mean. Right now, I use JS Align to make things I sculpt symmetrical, but it's a bit of a pain. As for a symmetry script, possibly, although it wouldn't be that easy.

      Lastly, I don't understand your third question. can you clarify?

      BMW Z4_0.6.skp
      โ€ฆ I've been playing around with mixing up methods from the SketchUp API with SketchyPhysics, and have concluded that it's really fun ๐Ÿ˜„ The above model was made entirely by me, and is a BMW Z4 which is steered by the WASD keys, and spacebar is boost, with C and V to take out/ put away guns, and up arrow to shoot. Shooting doesn't really matter though; it's not the point ๐Ÿ˜Ž

      Sorry I'm asking so many questions, but this is probably the greatest sketchup model I've ever seen. โ˜€

      It is definetely a great plugin... it workes fine with SU6 ,but bulge tool sometimes doesn't works with SU7...and I must choose another tool , then comeback to sculp tool, to force it working.is it a bug or interfere with other plugs...something abou SU7 or...?

      I don't know.
      When it doesn't work, what exactly do you mean? Does it stop working altogether? try keeping the ruby console open and tell me what pops up in it when the tool stops working.

      This is going to sound so bitchy... Why did that take you 7 hours?

      I altered the sides of the shield to that they would be kinda odd but in a good way, they aren't round but kinda weird. its kinda hard to notice but this shield is a great shape its not straight.

      Still, 7 hours?? go check out the Speed Modeling Competitions at http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewforum.php?f=291, you might be able to spot some techniques for speeding up the modeling process. 7 hours seems quite a lot of time for a sword and shield ๐Ÿ˜•

      โ€ฆ Don't get me wrong though; you DID do a good job ๐Ÿ‘

      @unknownuser said:

      As I mentioned above, the Speed Modeling Competition can give you great ideas for techniques to speed up the process, maybe you could join too ๐Ÿ˜‰ . It would be nice to have more entries, and if you win you get your username displayed in bright orange for everyone to see ๐Ÿ˜Ž

      The icons were not included at the download.

      They should have been, and are included in the latest version. Maybe try re-installing it ๐Ÿ˜• ( go to page 4; the download there has been updated several times. )

      Okay, after looking through the utilitiestools script, and through the SU API for a while, I have found out how to add inferencing and view.draw objects you can see ๐Ÿ˜‰ scripts will be updated eventually.

      ` def activate
      @ip1 = Sketchup::InputPoint.new
      @ip2 = Sketchup::InputPoint.new
      # new inputpoints.
      end

      def onMouseMove(flags,x,y,view)
      @ip1.pick view, x, y
      #gets 1.
      if @ip1 != @ip2
      # if 1 moved from the last position, where 2 is, do this.
      view.invalidate if( @ip1.display? or @ip2.display? )
      # invalidate the view if either point is shown. remove the if( @ip1.display? or @ip2.display? ) part when adding other visualizations.
      @ip2.copy! @ip1
      # set 2 to 1, so that when 1 moves again, it can tell.
      end
      end

      def draw(view)
      @ip1.draw view
      # draw 1.
      end`

    • RE: [Plugin] CleverClay

      If a group has no colour, but is coloured with a transparent colour on the outside, it will end up as the clay material, and non-transparent, due to the script not doing anything with the assigned colours of groups/ components. I think that if there is a group, the script should see if it has a material assigned to it, if so, don't change the 'default' colours inside, but change all non-default colours inside, and the exterior material to the clay one/ transparent clay one. If the group has no material assigned to it, treat it normally. That way, groups with transparent materials assigned to them will work properly. Personally, I don't usually paint groups themselves, but it's still a thought.

      I just need to read a state of CTRL\MENU key upon the start-up of the plugin.

      Did you try with the event OnMouseMove, which has a flags argument too?

      โ€ฆ This is a bit off-topic, but on windows
      ` class Flagtest

      def onMouseMove(flags,x,y,view)
      UI.messagebox flags
      end
      end

      Sketchup.active_model.select_tool Flagtest.new`
      will come up with 0 on mouse move, if no keys are pressed. on my mac, it's 256. Any idea why?

      update:
      Also, onMouseMove only activates when the mouse moves in the model area, so it wouldn't activate on startup of the plugin.

      ( 03/07/09) Working icons on windows. easy install.

      โ€ฆ These are the only files necessary, and where they should go:

      btm_Sculpt_Tools_Loader.rb > plugins folder
      btm_Sculpt_Tools folder > plugins folder

      btm_sculpt1_dialog1.png > btm_Sculpt_Tools folder

      btm_sculpt3_push1.png > btm_Sculpt_Tools folder
      btm_sculpt4_smooth1.png > btm_Sculpt_Tools folder
      btm_Sculpt1_Dialog.rb > btm_Sculpt_Tools folder
      btm_Sculpt2_Bulge.rb > btm_Sculpt_Tools folder
      btm_Sculpt3_Push.rb > btm_Sculpt_Tools folder
      btm_Sculpt4_smooth.rb > btm_Sculpt_Tools folder

      โ€ฆ Post here if you are having problems.

      NOTES: for Bulge and Push, Shift will reverse the tools, so Bulge will carve, and Push will Pull. Bulge bulges the mesh, push pushes things away from the cursor, and smooth smoothes out the mesh.
