RE: No Drag and Drop Import in 2013?
@tig said:
On a PC you ought always to install SketchUp as an Admin [context-menu on installer exe]
If you do not do this, then you can get some permission issues later on... however, a later workaround is to set SketchUp.exe to 'always run as administrator' under the Compatibility context-dialog...However, this has an unfortunate side-effect... an application running at a lower permissions level cannot affect an application running at an elevated level...
Windows-Explorer always runs at the permissions lowest level, so if you drag-n-drop from it into SketchUp, then it will only work IF SketchUp is running at the same permissions level.
So if you have set SketchUp to run at the elevated permissions level it cannot receive drag-n-drop from outside.Perhaps there's something similar on MAC ??
So a re-install as administrator should fix it?

No... No other programs seemed to be affected. In fact I have always done this with sketchup. Just move my whole program folder over. But this time it didn't work and I've had issues where Tig had me go in and redo permissions on all the SU folders and it fixed the issues. Well, now that I know it's not supposed to be this way, I'll sort it out. I just figured it was a lost function in the new system.
Did you ever resolve this Kris?
I have the same problem now. (I have checked all my permissions) -
RE: Any smokers here? Wanna quit?
One year smoke free last Monday!
Thanks for all the help and encouragement guys. -
RE: Dimension rounding metric
Unfortunately not do-able in LO. Would be very handy tho'.
Your only real option is to draw your models accurately
As for scaling 3d text, you do know that you can grab a handle and enter a measurement, (rather than a scale), for exactness?

RE: When someone destroys your stuff! GRRR!
Depressing Richard, happens to me a bit too. Just had a website destroyed by the company's accountant!

Sorry Mac, I have no idea.

Use elastic next time Baz then you can get several measurements in one.
Which was exactly where I came in...
... everybody chill, it's solved in at least four or five ways, go back to your lives!Thank you all for all your obsessive help.

Baz
PS: It's still a bug.

RE: Line length on circle scaled to ellipse is very wrong
A L. Great, that will be very useful in the future. Thanks.
Ps: 2118mm again, How long was my piece of string? -

Attched is pic of ellipse drawn by the means of supplemental chords with no scaling. I included different seg counts just to show what can be done. If there is interest I'll redo with more care.
Su reports length of 48.364" for size shown. (1228.4456mm)
If you can run the polynomial curve fit equation shown I would appreciate. If this approach is useful for you I'll redo and show how to draw. It is a little more complicated than scaling but not much since you can draw 1/4 and then mirrow.
Oops see one dimension got cropped it is 10"[attachment=0:cf3intzr]<!-- ia0 -->conjuate ellipse.jpg<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:cf3intzr]Curious to see how you do it Mac. (Tho' the curve on the minor axis is a bit pointy n'est pas?)

So my result of Nurbs prog was not so bad!
2118,2799 332 against your theoric 2118.2799 288074484Sketchup gives 2118,27 6442 with circle 1000 segments!

But what think of this
The actual line length is 2155 +/- 5. measured in the real world.Measured with ?
A piece of string Pilou, sorry I cant recheck it, the job is done and dusted.

There is no closed form equation for perimeter of ellipse
it is approximated by p=2PIsqrt[[[ a^2+b^2]/2]^1/2]
The correct value p=4aE where E is the elliptic integral where k=1/asqrt[a^2-b^2]Yeah, what Mac said...

It's an "IF".
BUT, it begs the question, why have 'they' done this AT ALL ?
It wasn't asked for, as far as I know, by any users OR authors...
I suggest you ask pertinent questions in the appropriate quarters/forums...
I have so far escaped becoming a "persona non grata" - but only barely...
But I'm none the wiser...[Homeland Security]

RE: Where did the users of PushPullBar go?
Bump. I still like the idea of several more 'specialist' forums. As Solo said, maybe just to read. And as Richard said, "only the brave need apply".
