I got confused because the zip file contained the 1.7 files as well as the 1.8...

Tom,
Are you sure? Which unzip program do you use?
It is true that I took a copy of the 1.7 zip file, emptied it, and then insert the 1.8 files. With Winzip, there is no problem. But it may not be true with other unzip utilities.

I use 7-zip and there is an empty JPP_Dir_17 folder once unzipped.

I just used Windows to open the file. I don't use third party applications for zip files. No need.

Here's a screenshot of the current archive which I just opened in AlZip - the v1.7 folder IS still there...
It also contains no files... -

I see the same folder structure in WinZip v14.5...
The JPP_Dir_17 is empty, but it's there...Any way... Thanks A LOT for this...

I can confirm that the unwanted empty v17 folder is no longer in the zip file
