Glad that got it sorted. It wasn't really a lucky guess because I ran into it once years ago. SketchUp draws the face on the ground plane with the back side up because usually that's going to be the bottom of some 3D object. The front face is facing out (down). About the only time it creates any sort of problem is when applying materials to a 2D face.

I'm hanging back a few weeks I think before installing Snow Leopard. Give Apple chance to come up with a few fixes.

Good morning Remus, thank you for the advise. I will definitely download CADSpan and give it a test drive! I have a friend who is a genius with SolidWorks and can check it's viability for me. Connor

I only render to show materials and oftentimes reflection of light. The "weight" of materials is important to me and a rendering helps convey that to a client. Otherwise, sketchup provides a nice visualization tool for the geometries and how materials come together. Tracking a reveal through 10,000 S.F. is difficult enough, but to actually SEE and make visually informed decisions based on how it looks within a space is critical!

Glad the OpenGL changes worked for you. I know only enough about OpenGL to be dangerous but it is the thing (protocol, system, whatever) that is responsible for creating the 3D appearance. SketchUp is designed to work well with the nVidia chipset and OpenGL and for other graphics adjustments have to be made. The specific combination of adjustments seems to vary between machines and graphics driver software revisions. I would imagine you could get better info if you search OpenGL here on the forum.

I cannot add too much to the practical ways of compression - every image editor has its own way to do it (mostly with some kind of a slider as Pete suggests). As for interlacing however; you won1t need it. It means that when it's displayed in a web browser, it first displays a "reduced resolution" version until the whole image is totally loaded into the cacje of the browser and gradually "refines" the resolution of the display. So basically that setting is for large file sizes (which would take a while to load) on one hand and for internet use on the other. Interlacing will add some Kb's to the file size but useless in SU otherwise.

See if this roofing texture will be better (I could still imagine something much better but it's still better than that "Spanish tile" you use) And a preview of it on a basilica we've just found ("strongly" WIP) [image: DFIT_Bazilika.jpg] The stone/brick opus mixtum is not mine but I will ask my friend who made it to share. Sorry I might be late on catching the thread, but how about this two-step process? with the Select tool, double-click on the 'field-area' - the portion of surface outside of the circles. with the Move/Copy tool, displace a copy of the field to another location. Hope this helps. Cheers, . Diego .

Another slick trick is to write-block only the autocad objects you want in SU to another (new, now pretty clean already) file...then proceed with the flatten, etc., fixit procedures there.
