Edit texture
-
I often selecting a texture from right click entity info, to adjust the color by selecting the face, then edit. After changing the color this way, I occasionally attempt to right click > texture > edit texture image, but find that the texture now has its default value. On the surface, it seems to make more sense to modified the previously edited texture. Anyone know if this should be a bug?

I see why you would want it to open an image in your editor that looks like the altered SU image. But SU is only taking the image and adding color info to it, but not actually changing the original file. You can witness that by tweaking the material like you explained in step 1. Then go back into the material editor and click "reset color" to restore the image back to its original coloring.
So I think it is their desire to keep the actual original image untouched that makes it act this way.
But it might be a candidate for a feature request or workflow request. I can see why it would make sense to do it the way you described for sure.

It's not a bug. Just the way SketchUp works. It's actually only editing the copy of the material in the In Model library. If you want to keep the edited version or replace the original, drag the edited one from the In Model library to the original library. If you don't change the name of the material, you'll be asked if you want to replace the existing material with the new one.

OK, got it, not a bug. Guess my final preference would be to have both alternatives. Keep the original texture color, and create a new texture color that can be edited in both ways. The new texture color will be identified with the model unless it is saved into a library.
For now, if I want to change the image, I guess I should do it before I adjust the color. Hmmm... will it work that way, or will the Su edit begin with the default image. Well, no time now to check it out, will have to remember to do it the next time I model something.

Give the edited material a new name and save it as I mentioned by dragging it to the desired library. Then you'll have the original and the edited versions for later use.

Dave, I over looked the obvious. Thanks, >_<
