Thanks to both, I'm taking a look at both the scripts. I have a little question about Repeat Copy, before I buy it : will it use the normal of the receiving face for orienting the pasted component? I also tried "Component on face" by Chris Fullmer and it's quite useful though not exactly what I was looking for (some manual tweaking is required). Thanks again

Over the Kerkythea site there is a download section with a bunch of materials that have been created with physically accurate settings. Also, on their forums there are a lot of materials shared by users. It is a very friendly place with a bunch of helpful people, I can recommend registering and looking around there.

A problem like that could be indicative of a hard drive that is on the verge of failing. You might consider backing up your hard drive.

BTM made some scuplt tools, too that may be useful. http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=20781&hilit=sculpt But I'd put my money on Thom's vertex editing tools as soon as they are available.

also, when you want to enter numerical input, you can see what you are typing in the far right-bottom corner of your screen. You never need to click there, just type away!!

Thanks, I'll try to remember these tips. @tig said: Making the profiles [and rails], each with the same number of segments gives best results in EEbyRails - to weld complex sets of arcs/edges into one curve first select all and explode back to plain edges - they stay selected then use 'weld' to join them...

I just noticed that I never returned to say that this problem was solved. Jim had the right answer, but I misunderstood what he was saying at the time. It is, as he said, the difference between textures being placed in the My Textures library vs. the In Model library. Now when I import a custom texture, I always switch to In Model textures first.

Hi, Slench I“d say it“s pretty much the same procedure as with any other model - learning basic SU operations, watching video tutorials, finding a decent blueprint plus lots of reference photos ( but if you“re aiming for a low poly model, you probably won“t need many of them ) etc. This might give you a rough modeling idea http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5riz0_uzi-sur-google-sketchup_creation - no blueprints used , but anyway... About setting up blueprints in SU http://www.the-blueprints.com/tutorials/sketchup/ As for using your model in games like TF2, you might want to check this out http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SketchUp_Source_Tools Hope this helps.

@thomthom said: Styles with special edges like that takes much longer for SU to process. Shadows also adds a great amount of time. What you are best of doing is making your camera adjustments with a quick normal style and only toggle on your custom style when you are ready to export. Well, i already tried this ... but in some angles the problem still occurs Is it possible that the style i made myself is to "complex"? I could imagine that it takes more time to render a style thats build on many strokes... cu

@d12dozr said: @comatose said: Is the $7 plugin much better than the free one? I've never used either of them so I can only go by the description on each plugin's page, but it appears the $7 one has more options for focusing the camera. Why not just try the free one to see if it does what you need, and upgrade if necessary? Maybe somebody that has used the scripts could answer better? It's already a while when I used one of free camera patch scripts (sorry cannot remember the script). There was some hard (or impossible) to control accelerations - so I finally did gave up (Kerkythea produced better results). Never tested FlightPath2, but it seems to have crucial camera target options. I think Ecuadorian have played a lot with these... maybe search his posts.

Thanks again for the suggestion, but as you say, the background image doesn't lne up so well. In the meantime I'll continue to create another plane with the photo match image on. I've streamlined this a bit in terms of perspective by copying a face of the back of the camera object to use as the plane for that image as it lines up in 3D space exactly except for size and distance.

Yeah, I think that's a good idea, also, you need to push in the windscreen, as it is, it's flush with the columns. Same with all the other windows and rear windsrceen. Other than that, Nice work so far!

If you have it set one way in your template it will be repeated in any new models made from that template, but if you change it in any model it's remembered in that model as a new setting. It is a very useful feature to toggle on/off as you work...

@thomthom said: Open the Styles window, Go to the Watermark section (fourth button from the right, big OK on it) Insert watermarks/backgrounds Thanks Thomthom! I found it. More details for those who may run into this problem again: After opening the Styles Window, clicl the Edit tab. The Watermark button belongs to the Edit section.
