How can we create curved surface in SU as per the attached chair please.

You'll need this plugin to make it. Check out the bottom of linked page to see a video of it in action.
Or you could use TIG's Extrude Toolset, this would be a bit more difficult as you'd need an orthographic set of pics of the chair
Or check out the 3D Warehouse for something that could be adapted?
