to size the window proportions right for any exporting, i usually go to the export jpeg options menu, set the desired width, then keep resizing your sketchup window until the desired depth appears (guess and check style). Very annoying! anyone have a work around? kannonbal, your trick is pretty good but still doesn't let you set the window to the exact proportion you need. It would be nice if you could do it all in sketchup.

Bump maps would be very, very useful for representing rows of rivets without a hugeamount of geometry being retained. Same could be true for nuts and bolts. For those sorts of things being able to create bump maps would be really helpful.

Pixero, The only thing that comes to mind right off hand is checking to see if you have permission to run ActiveX controls. If that's not the problem, then I was wondering if you could zip up your PowerPoint and applet and send them to me to check out (my email address is listed below). I'm sure that we can work this out, I just need more information to go on. Abe Megahed CTO, Hypercosm megaheda <AT> hypercosm.com (608) 229-2829

Sounds like the image is bigger than the plane you placed it on. I usually create a flat surface and add the texture. I then 'resize' the surface to fit the image, i.e instead of the multiple tiled images you get. I then group it and 'rescale' it to fit the model.

Lots of very good input here. I have faith in the new forum looking excellent. I was also a fan of the look of the old forums also, they where nice and streamlined with a professional look.

Some program code may be corrupted. If so, there's a repair option for PCs that's worth looking at http://sketchup.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=36209&query=repair&topic=&type=

@chris fullmer said: Thanks for the nice comments Edson. I think your link you posted is pointing to the wrong place. That file is not on my server I think you uploaded it here: http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/sas/ProUser/sitetech.skp Chris chris, you are absolutely right. i assumed you were referring to kelly's server and did not even bother to check it thoroughly. thanks for calling my attention to it.

Excellent. Any chance I can have you zip up that script directory and send it to me? I'll PM you with my contact info. We did make some Ruby changes in the latest release and maybe there is a bad interaction with one of your scripts. I can check it out and let you know. P: TriciaS

@dave r said: I must be blind. I can find Special Interest forums at all. No you are not Dave, the idea was premature and got held off until after the transfer is completed. We will revisit the idea of a WW sub-forum real soon. @dave r said: Thanks Eric. FWIW, I do try to keep file sizes down when I make my models. Of course they aren't as small as they could be but they are dimensionally accurate and you could take them apart and make working drawings for your wood shop from them. And that is why I like you to post them The more ways I can learn to build anything with wood the better off I am. Thanks.
