By special features, I meant things that it wouldn't do yet. The main special feature now is the 4 ways of creating the 3D PDF Just the 3D PDF itself - this is good for embedding into Web pages. (And a "special feature" we could add would be to create the HTML code for embedding the PDF into the web page for people who would rather copy and paste HTML code into their web pages.) The 3D image area with titles, captions and body text. The 3D image placed onto a raster background. You create a raster image for a background and place the 3D image on top of the other image. Both a Background image and text. This is helpful for putting images at the top, left and bottom of a page, adding the 3D image and then adding titles and captions. See: http://forums.renderplus.com/wiki/index.php?title=RPS_3D_PDF_Tutorial_-_Page_Layout [image: eKbY_background-and-text-pdf.jpg] Another important feature we added recently is "batch mode" This lets you automatically create several 3D PDFs from saved .SKP files in a single operation. You create a batch file with the .SKP file names, the .PDF file names and a saved settings file, push a button and create all the 3D PDFs at once. One of our clients has a library of 3D symbols and is using this to create 3D PDFs for each symbol which can be used by clients to preview the .SKP file before downloading it. See: http://forums.renderplus.com/wiki/index.php?title=RPS_3D_PDF_Docmentation#Batch_Mode

Jenujacob covers a lot in his post. I guess a lot depends on how much you wish to spend and how much time you have to learn new software. All the programs listed above will give good results. I personally like Kerythea because it is free, renders really well and has a great community. Lots of tutorials and people willing to help over at their forums. http://www.kerkythea.net/joomla/ Take a look through our renders forum here, you will see various gallery images from different programs http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewforum.php?f=82 I always love to see the vray renders, they look pretty amazing. Unfortunately I beleive the software is pretty expensive and has a steep learning curve.

Archi rag here are the details from the cath up news letter Every month we have a Prize draw for the CatchUp newsletter. Since this is the first issue of CatchUp we're keeping it simple. We want you to create a 3D model. However, the model needs to be top notch! There are some basic rules to keep in mind, but we don't want to bother you with a mile long rules document. Post it to the 'Materials / Components / Styles' forum. Before the subject put the word CatchUp. That way it will automatically be counted in for the CatchUp prize draw. Basically you can apply as many times as you like. So if you send in one model or one hundred doesn't matter. What matters is the quality and originality of the model. An independent jury will judge the models one by one and will pick out the best one. There is no theme necessary, meaning, you can model anything you like. It can be architecture, industrial design, game design or even Arnold Schwarzenegger as the next US President. It's up to you. Go for your best! The end date for this prize draw to send in your models is August 25, 2007. here is the link to the newsletter http://www.sketchucation.com/scf/catchup/2007/august/ mike d

Thanks Cheffy, this brings back memories. I had one exactly like this on my board at home during graduate school. I spent many hours looking at i waiting for inspiration.

Thanx Ross, Still very much a WIP. The Volvo tends to be an ‘aero’ design. So a lot of your “Peterbilt/Kenworth” type details (air horns, grab-bars, air cleaners, chrome plated ‘anything’) are generally not typical to the 770 model. However I do plan to detail the model (sleeper windows, doors, door latches, lights, wipers, etc). as well as getting it a tad closer to an actual Volvo appearance. Meanwhile… here is a recent (last night) WIP render. Thanx again. Bob (another pic can be found here... http://www.kerkythea.net/phpBB2/download.php?id=3093 ) [image: 6sbc_sleeper5.jpg]

Like said above, set your paper orientation to Landscape. Change the "Camera" to Parallel Projection, then click on the appropriate stand view (probably "Front"). Now zoom in so that your pattern fills the screen as much as possible without extending off of the screen. Now when you got into Print Preview you should be able to enter "1" into each of the "Scale" boxes. Now when click "OK" your entire pattern should show up on a single page if it is of a size that will fit within the margins.

Thank you Gaieus for your prompt assistance. That solved my problem. I have been having problems with Sketchup lately and I just noticed that all of my extensions were turned off (not by me). I am just wondering whether my settings have been corrupted and whether I can do anything about it. Walter
