@narkosis said: Im curious about this as well. Loving the Animator plugin, but its a very slow process when my computer only uses my CPU (8c/16t) to render the frames as opposed to my RTX3070 For the time being, this is the only possible mechanism to generate the rendered video.

If you delete objects (groups, components and their hierarchy) which are used by Animator, you will encounter problems. At best, Animator will detect it and reset parameters of the movement to their default.

I downloaded a new copy of FFmpeg from here https://www.ffmpeg.org/download.html#build-windows AND Maybe more importantly I just waited for the cmd windows to close by themselves. I think the slower your PC and the bigger the video the longer they will stay open. Just have some patience and let FFmpeg run and all good.

@tig said: What you are trying to do would probably be more easily achieved with another extension - like TrueBend or ShapeBender - manipulating a 3dText group... Thanks. Shape Bender was the solution. Not easy to use until you understand. But great when you know how.

Well Fredo you can stamp Solved on this post. You mentioned trying to slow the speed down, and so I was experimenting to see if that worked. I inadvertently pushed the speed down until it went into the negatives ie: -90.00°/s, and that solved the problem, it switched from counterclockwise to clockwise. I didn't realize this, so chalk on up to inexperience. Thanks so much for you help. Dale

@rv1974 said: I see. Then put multiple skp files as groups (also, there are some plugins to organize layers properly) in one file, set up scenes properly and that's it. PS Also see tig xref manager- those skp groups could be xrefs Exactly what I'm doing, but each model has 8 different scenes, its taking a long time. I know it's possible to make a .bat file, I just don't know how

@berna117 said: It fails too often my complete animation is 2400 frames and every 50-150 frames it crashes in 2 different ways... Animator and even VRay4 are not designed to render such a big amount of frames, furthermore when using a rendering software like VRay. Too slow, and with VRay4, the API is not stable enough. @berna117 said: I am rendering different sections of the animation in different computers to speed up the process but I noticed that if sketchup UI is different animator makes the view different, even in the same computer if you close sketchup's side tray making the work area bigger animator changes the view. That's inherent to Sketchup. Images are captured from views, and views are based on viewport, which is itself impacted by the real-estate left on the screen by toolbars and trays.

Hi - if the desired animation doesn't need to be too sophisticated, a simple gif animation, equipped with some door positions like shown in your picture, might be sufficient? I´ll link an example, done this way with only 10 frames, running back and forth... https://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=397&t=63826&p=659064&hilit=Bobby#p659064 (otherwise, Dave's animator suggestion above would be better)

Could you open the Ruby console while generating. This gives traces on the progression of the generation and possibly errors. Also open the directory where the images are generated to see if they are actually.

Seems to be working now. Not my imagination it was not before. Bizarre. I did not try to recreate the workflow I was doing exactly. It involves a large mesh (1M triangles) and creating splines at intersecting faces. sketchup and computer seems stressed with this. When I get back on it for real, If I have a problem, will let you know. Thanks for the fast response.

WoW! Some really great results here! Unfortunately I could not get a reference photo straight on from sideview but it seems you got great results from "eyeballing". I learned alot from this and will use your tutorials to improve Sub divide modelling. Thank you all for your effort ; )

@unknownuser said: Error: #<Errno::EACCES: Permission denied @ rb_sysopen - C:/Users/Rick/AppData/Local/Temp/SCF/SketchUcation_Usage.log> The SketchUcation toolset writes a log file used in our own debugging. It does it silently as you use its tools. Fortunately the error is quite clearly explained in the error message [often it can be somewhat arcane !] SketchUp is unable to open the log file to write into it - this suggests a folder/file permissions limitation which was probably created by initially installing SketchUp incorrectly [i.e. not using ...right-click installer's exe > "Run as administrator"]... subsequent corrections of the installation - perhaps using 'Repair' - didn't reset that particular permission as it's outside the main 'SketchUp' domain... A simple fix would be to exit SketchUp and use Windows Explorer to open the Temp folder C:/Users/Rick/AppData/Local/Temp Then delete its SCF subfolder. This will delete the subfolder and its contents [i.e. SketchUcation_Usage.log], if any. When you restart SketchUp and the SketchUcation toolset loads it will not find the subfolder or log file and recreate both of them, this time using the correct permissions as were reset by any 'Repair' you might have done to the main SketchUp installation... If you get error-message problems with the other SCF files [not in Temp], then deleting those might help too... C:\Users\Rick\AppData\Local\SCF
