There's a plugin called Material Maintenance by Myhand. I use it daily, and if I understand what you need out of it, it'll do exactly what you need. http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=48933&hilit=material+maintenance#p437121 Hope that helps! Matt

X-Ray mode? Or create a unique material that you apply only to walls, then turn its opacity down just far enough to show the piping and ducting within.

Hi, thanks all, especially richard for continue discussing this topic. I learnt allot the sketchucation shop is messy and not comfortable to browse. you can export evermotion models to skp but they are sometimes too messy to handle. I guess http://www.designconnected.com/ is the beset close to what I Was looking for. though a bit expensive. a good variety of free models though. the bloom unit model looks really innovative. 6$ hour isn't much though I wounder what cpu is used and what can be done in that hour. might try it sometime. I'm considering formfonts since its still the most cost effective. Thanks all from me too.

I wouldn't mind an active connection between Excel and LayOut, either. Because I dislike the appearance of tables straight out of Excel, though, I copy tables from Excel to Word, massage them a bit there for formatting--setting tabs, things like that and save as RTF. I then insert the RTF file into LO. I can edit the RTF file and update from the Excel file if required. It's not quite as smooth as a direction connection but it is workable.

we did a job for a car reseller some time ago and the boss bought a couple of car from humster. at first try, the "low poly 3ds" versions of them crashed sketchup instantly.. i had to send a mail to them and they were very polite and sent me back a custom skp-low poly version.. still pretty hi poly, but at least sketchup manged them (after a furter cleanup of the geometry, in particular some utra hy-poly details, such as headlights). now with beta vray maybe you can use proxy, as far as i know also maxwell can mange proxyes, so maybe it's a bit easier..

It seems very fashion. I'm thinking to use it for some particular models of secret boxes (construct with wood as material). If u can sand to me a copy, i'll be grateful. This my mail prelligiulio@hotmail.it
