@jbjdesigns said: Thank you Gaieus for the 2 tutorials! I tried them both out. Although the second tutorial (subject line) was geared towards SketchUp Pro, I was able to create 3 arched windows in a curved wall following the instructions in the first tutorial (Window in a Round Wall). Here is my results. Thanks again! Jo Ann I would not say it was "geared" towards SU Pro - but the method of intersecting and cleaning up is the same as in the first one - so I just would not "bother" to repeat myself (with no bad taste in the "bother" word). I even mentioned this in the second tutorial (the method is always the same - from now on, it is just our fantasy to prepare the scenes to get the desired result after the operation - no matter with which boolean tool we do that last part).

I haven't tried that direction yet, but looking at the list here I can see there's 3D DXF and VRML which both should export textures, although I wouldn't count too much on DXF's ability to transfer textures. Hope it works and please post the outcomes of your trials, I'd love to document if there's a way to do that. cheers

I've re-uploaded. I made it with native tools only and nowadays when there are so many, cool plugins, it's much easier to model this kind with them.

Import SU model as a plain geometry, select whole object - all 3D polygons and press Ctrl+Alt+A (solid addition). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRQn3cQxJD8 Wow, thanks. You just saved me so much time. I never knew this. Previously whenever my solid objects turn into nonsolids for reasons I don't know, I would rebuild it again from zero.

Sketchup won't seem to let me change the aspect ratio for some reason. I can either change the Width or Height but not both or I can use the screen resolution which didn't work either.

Sorry to get back at you so late; I've only seen your post just now. Regrettably, I cannot help you -I've never encountered the problem you're having. It might be useful to ask the devs over at the Podium forum.

Nice job. Only thing: at 1:09 you show the building reflection before you explain how. Great demonstration to get pool texture, sky, and surrounding all in the reflection. Another touch is to add a swirl in PP. Simple with free Online Pixlr editor (Filter / Water Swirl)--for stills only, not animation. Another PP note: I found that images (like your trees) come through transparent textures or faces much more sharply than the other objects, so you have to find a way to tone them down. Thanks for posting this. (Edit: looking at this post and image later--there's something confusing with the reflection line if you look at the rear of the pool. I think either the mirror plane is too low or you need to make the side of the pool below water translucent, or both.) [image: T8YR_Screenshot2012-08-08at9.png]
