I'm voting with you mate! I do all my floor plan design work in layout and the ability to measure off areas would be heaven! And yes TommyK, it's not quite the same request!

Agreed! And make it easy to revert to the style saved in SU scene after tweaking with other styles...

From your description not sure what you want. You just, say ,have a line and want to add a vertex along it? I don't get the dragging-and-adding description. This is one of the few things that LO CAN do. Double click on line, then click on it with the option key down.

@krisidious said: @kaas said: I wish SketchUp would have vector hatches instead of LO. I prefer to keep the amount of added elements in layout as low as possible. we have vectored hatching in sketchup via the hatch plugin. Limited don't you think? Even those vectors style display are harsh if you thicken profiles...

@unknownuser said: +1 on the revision cloud. It would be great to have customization. Possibly a tool that links arcs along a path, then when closed options for the revision tag, placement and number. The scrapbook method does not work well for really defined revisions that need to be clouded around notes, objects etc. Totally agree.

Drawing tools are primitive and need more features, and actions need to be added. Have a real join function and trimming and get rid of the toy like glue and cut tools. They don't work half the time. Better snapping. 2.Fix bugs that adds thick lines (vector and hybrid) Fix bug that makes hidden lines visible in printout (hybrid and vector). Produce smaller pdf output files (no reason they have to be so large--practically unusable without reducing each page afterwards). Fix bug that reduces the size of imported graphics. Make it all faster: rendering and printing. Make a special dialog to choose which pages to print (by page name).

I know this is an old post, but Sketchup 2015 didn't have this feature, so I am going to bump! @ely862me said: If Layout can be ran in two instances, like Sketchup, then you just need to put one instance to produce renders and work out your files in the other instance. Make sure you set your processors affinity in Task Manager if it is the case. I am not sure if I understand you, or if you haven't quite understood me! If you can indeed run LayOut in two instances with a PC, that sounds very useful (I am Mac only at the moment). In the picture below, it illustrates what I am wanting to achieve: [image: ApoF_ScreenShot2015-01-20at09.17.29.jpg] The idea being that you can work away on other parts of the drawings while the individual views update. It's a technical challenge for the Sketchup team, which I am sure can be solved, and the rewards are higher levels of productivity for us LayOut users whose models (and ambitions) are getting bigger.

I think we're talking about pretty much the same thing. As I see it, Layout is going to get the information from SketchUp in any case. Dynamic linking is critical. What I'm proposing is that the predefined filters, or hopefully user defined filters, you mention can live in a graphic tag with linking power similar to the Label tool. I would like to decide which components are going to be made available to the schedule by labeling them rather than deleting them out of the table. I like to be able to look at the drawing to see the things I've done and find the things I've missed. My suggestion comes from generating drawings out of Inventor and SolidWorks. After laying out your parts in an assembly drawing, you label them with an automatic balloon tool. Then you can generate a quick BOM of everything with a balloon number attached. Often you are only labeling a sub-assembly and ignoring the majority of the parts in the assembly. AutCad also has a powerful attribute and table system. You can add hidden attributes to any block but often the most efficient thing to do is make tag blocks and copy and paste them around the drawing. You can tell the table wizard to show you only blocks with attributes, then select only those you want to put in the table.

@otb designworks said: Guess we shouldn't have expected them at all... To some extend I can agree, that it's a little disappointing that so few feature requests have made it so far... I assume that it's primary caused by the migration to 64-bit, which I acknowledge have been a huge task...! I do hope that now where these things are in place, they have the time to work on the feature requests in the future... @otb designworks said: It would also be really very helpful if we could import DWG/DXF files No need to double-post...

Just seen this post and just purchased SimLab PDF. There is a button to combine PDFs with SlimLab, therefore the 3D pdf and the PDF from Layout can be combined. When opened on Android tablet I could open the file but there was not any 3D model. Only 2d PDF was viewable.

"An option to input measurements in different scales 1:1, 1:5, etc. Useful for drafting on top of ortho views. Components!!!!" Yes, let me second this Motion. Drawing in Layout on top of a Sketchup model (viewed in a viewport) to SCALE of the model would be sweet. I often develop "concepts" in Layout that I then export to Presentation software that I use to display at workshops (large groups). Making all overlay graphics readily to scale would be very nice.

I am hoping that the LO team understands that ortho views do not always flatten. And when it comes to perspective views, well, good luck with dimensioning. There are others beside me that have expressed their frustrations. So instead of just bitching about it, I forwarded the idea of a tool that could create a true orthographic projection of a SU scene regardless of whether it was a SU ortho or perspective view. I do get the work-arounds and have used them, and they are useful for projects that are not susceptible to many changes. Those projects are few and far between for me. I am perplexed at the relative silence and acceptance of LO users who find the package adequate for preparing construction documents. Many have developed very creative solutions to deal with the shortcomings of LO dimensioning. That's great but not ideal. Please LO, be excellent, not adequate.
