      I would love to use LayOut to create all of the model sheets for the schematic presentation/DD/pre-CD, etc....but I can't use our studio's dwg title block in the sheet setup. What's up with that? ...or have I missed something?

        While you cannot "import" your dwg title boxes straight into LO (like you cannot import any CAD elements anyway), you can set up your templates with your custom blocks just like in a CAD software. All these blocks in LO are just combinations of simple shape (and maybe other - like raster image, even SU model and such) elements and put on an "every page" layer (kind of "master blocks" or how architects call them).

        Gai...

          yup, uh huh, I understand all of that...the issue is uniformity with the rest of the architectural set and ability to use the blocks within the title block for changing titles, sheet numbers, etc. Thanks...still wishing. πŸ˜‰

            Bump that! πŸ˜„

            being able to import a 2d cad block or dwg as geometry would be invaluable. especially if a practice has a number of different title blocks all forming different purposes.

            Being able to insert cad blocks could also allow the use of the editable fields within a block.

            I'm resigned to redrawing my title block, but i think this feature would make layout even more attractive to all design practices, engineers and surveyors.

            what confuses me is that LO is able to export to dxf/dwg but not import 😞

              can't you?

              import title block into sketchup...

              insert sketchup model of title block into layout.

              switch to vector mode...

              explode...

              add to title block layer...

                This is great, but how do you import the title block with text? I loose all text when importing .dwg to SU.

                  there is a script/plugin that allows you to import DXF text into sketchup (try searching for it). Ive tried it after exploding my title block. limited success only, but better than starting from scratch for sure

                  Sketchup 21.2.332 (windows 10.0.19043 Build 19043)

                    Text doesn't import... or it didn't, I haven't tried that plugin... But I'm going to hunt it down.
