@ecottechtchr said: Does this plug-in work in SketchUp 8? When I tried to install it from Window > Preferences > Extensions > "Install Extension", it won't recognize the file because it's .rb rather than .rbz. Thanks! plugins with .rb are no extensions and you only need to copy it in the right directory. More details from Thomthom...

My Computer Guru has installed several drives on my PC (it has been rebuilt and upgraded to run SU several times) and encourages me to have programmes separate from data. Programmes generally default to loading on a particular drive in my case the C drive unless told otherwise. I've ended up with SU6 on one drive and SU8 on another hence more than one plugin folder. I've also noticed another plugin folder sitting immediately above the programmes folder in which SU8 is situated. It could be that this has been inadvertently copied maybe. I understand I have a 'raid' system but have no idea how it works, I only have modest understanding of hardware and software. I hope this goes some-way to explaining why. Further questions welcome.

yeah.. i see what you're saying. (and fwiw, i can't remember a time when i, personally, ever had a small faces problem.. i just don't have a need to draw that small.. so i'm just talking here for the sake of talking ) i guess i was imagining a scenario where the measurement box was automatically multiplying everything by 100 (or whatever). but since we can't enter something like _ 3/16 * 100 _ in the box, i guess i can see how it's highly unlikely for this to be automated some by eliminating the need for _ * 100 _..

There's scant API access to any of the Edit tools, like Cut, Copy, Paste or PasteInPlace, and those that exist are send_actions which are not exactly helpful... Also selecting objects across entities collections is s recipe for a BugSplat !

There are some special commands for redrawing DCs that are not in the main API docs, but the DC docs and other sources... This has a ... dcs = $dc_observers.get_latest_class dcs.redraw_with_undo(sang) example http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8507476/sketchup-dynamic-component-options-manipulating-from-ruby Or here https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups=#!topic/sketchupruby/630uerkDhJI There are also several posts at SCF, like this one http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=180&t=41567

@zigfoyer said: There used to be a free RPG plugin that would let you move, rotate, or copy something or a single axis by a specified amount you typed into the plugin window. I can't find the thing on their website any more except as part of a larger package you can buy. Are there any other similar plugins? Never understood why Sketchup didn't just add this functionality. maybe this one written by Jim FOLTZ? http://sketchuptips.blogspot.com.es/2007/08/plugin-mover-2.html

@janx said: This could be made also as option to Eraser. For example, with holding ctrl+alt+mouse I select lines must be collapsed and with releasing they collapse at average point. If selected lines/goups of lines are not connected with each other, they collapse in their own average point. Anyway, for comfortable use it must be tool which You can shortcut on keyboard. you can already do this with vertex tools (though there's no eraser involved.) using vertex tool's select tool (various window select options which work in combination with a normal click for a single vertex), just go around selecting all the vertices you want to collapse then 'merge vertices' it doesn't matter how close or far they are apart or if there are unselected vertices in between selected vertices.. the 'merge close vertices' feature you saw in the video is a different feature in which you can select a larger group of vertices then filter their merge behavior depending on the distance between them.. [as in-- everything you seem to be asking for is already available in vertex tools.. (but hey, i could be missing something?)] [well, you can't select lines per se.. you have to select the vertexes on each end]

"Add Invisible Layer adds an invisible layer to all existing and new scenes. " This seems to be the way these plugins work. It's really important to be able to add layers and not have them in existing scenes. But NEW scenes? I have Jim's plugin. I find I can setup a new scene and have everything I want. When I save the scene. the layers added with this tool (which are visible in the present setup) turn off. This doesn't seem consistent with how scenes work. I have to turn the layers back on and update the scene again. I also notice that prior to this update, the objects in the hidden layer cast shadows in the new scene, although the entities are invisible. I'd suggest that once inside the model the added hidden layer can be added to scenes in the normal fashion. They just aren't added to all existing scenes (the option Trimble should add).

So... it looks like either you haven't got FULL permissions to read/write to the MAC's Plugins folder [fix them] OR you are using the wrong 'plugins' folder. It should be the Macintosh HD 'plugins' folder NOT the 'user' one ! There are dozens of threads already about which is the correct MAC 'plugins' folder and 'permissions' Search SCF for some key-words... Incidentally there are now many scripts/toolsets better than this one... Search the SCF Plugins Index - e.g. Thomthom's 'Cleanup'...
