Yes. Just control them with layer visibility in each scene. Should work.

Subdivision (Subdivs) must be under Light Cache settings. But instead, try Denoiser first to get rid of noise. It should be an easier and faster job for Denoiser.

Hey Angevin, Something seems wrong, a 1000px render shouldnt be taking hours to finish. I run my test renders that size and they generally take from 30 seconds to 5 minutes to complete...(this is relative to scene and your pc, of course.) Your settings seem cranked up pretty high...in some places...not very balanced either. I don't think there is any reason to ever have a minimum of 2 subdivs if you're using an adaptive sampler. And 24 subdivs is really high....and .05 is really low (not very balanced). Denoiser can steal a lot of detail, so it isnt a good idea to make it do too much work...specially if you're using irradiance map as you primary bounce. I find Light Cache of 1500 tends to be low for our interior scenes, although .05 sample size is a pretty high one. Usually don't go over -1 for Irr max rate... Anyway, its a good idea to start with the built in quality presets, (the 'quality' slider under 'Renderer') Medium is a good start, try high if you think it needs it. Then only change one setting at a time and render a small region with the region render window to see if it helps quality without effecting time too adversely. If you're having crashes and long render times, good to try copying and pasting in place the whole scene into a new SU file. Sometimes there is just something corrupted in the file and this is the only/easiest fix. Since Vray 3.4, I'd say this happens to 1 out of every 4 files!!...yeah 3.4 is still pretty buggy... If you want me to take a look, you can PM me with link to download file and I'll see how it runs on our machines...I'll even hone in some fast quality settings for you. Could give you a good place to start with your settings in the future. Cheers, GD

Chaos people solved this for me: A recommended workflow to achieve transparency of glass in a .png image would be to adjust the settings of the glass material. In the 'Refraction' rollout, change the 'Affect channels' parameter to 'Color + alpha'.

You should check/ask at Vray official forum for such information or release notes in the manual.

I have the same glitch sometimes in one of my files. It appears that there is simply no information on the blue channel. For me, sun only never works again. however, if you put on an HDRi, it comes out fine.

Maybe it's grouped too deep. I had a few pieces of render missing when I grouped a group inside a group inside a group etc. Try also resetting to default vray render settings, if you haven't tried it already. What also might be the case is that you have some material ID channel, or some other channel, chosen in Vray frame buffer. In upper left corner, check that. What's strange here is that those chairs on top don't look like the chairs in bottom picture...

It's likely to have such render differences between versions. I suggest asking in ChaosGroup forum in order to get a proper response. To me second image looks better i feel like a Brightness & Gamma issue but i'm not sure. Check this V-ray manual for Migrating from Previous Versions.

Make sure you ticked the 'Spherical' option. So that image wraps around and you won't see plain ground. And i think your only option is rotating (i might be wrong). But making changes other than rotating doesn't make sense, because it'll shift the horizon etc.

Hi there, Is there any way to automatically uncheck the linear workflow in all old materials? Any extension or whatever? Thanks!

Thats great! Nice looking render. I love this design, btw. Very cool...the car is a perfect fit here, too. Are you using light dome/HDRI or Vray sun to light the scene? If light dome/hdri, you can up the texture resolution from 512 up to 2048 for some more GI quality. (at the cost of higher render times, of course With low light renders such as this, you're always going to need higher settings to reduce noise...and longer render times. Although there are tricks to getting around this which happen in post. From here you can save the render in frame buffer history, then do small render regions on problem areas while tweaking one setting at a time to figure out what works/helps and what doesn't. So, depending on what renderer/GI method your using, you may try upping the min shading rate a bit or lowering the noise threshold if using brute force. Or if using Irradiance Map, try raising Quality subdivs and/or Irradiance map subdivs. If done correctly, your region renders should merge with the whole render, if not, just save them all and smooth out the seams in photoshop. Unfortunately, the denoiser passes when using render region leave the rest of the render outside the 'region' black....so they have to be composited in post...hope they fix that soon. Let me know if you have any more questions about anything. Good luck and have fun! On a side note - if this were my project, I would like to see how things look with the architecture lit up more. Maybe more exterior lighting to really accentuate the building. I like the mood you have here, but overall its a bit flat. More lighting like you have around the base structure could really make things pop. cheers!

@filibis said: instead of replying in a group here. LOL! Yeah, you won't receive much feedback there... look at when the last post was made in that group and there are no responses. Like I said, Chaos Group does seem to be aware of some bugs that cause geometry in the model to be manipulated during the render and are working on some fixes. I think the most helpful thing would be to send a file that exhibits this behavior directly to support. You're more likely to get a helpful response if they have something specific they can work with, and it will help them troubleshoot the problem. Best, Andy

Displacement in your file? Seriously though, 2.0 is garbage. Upgrade to 3.4 as soon as you can.

You can export the alpha of the render and replace the HDRi with a beach image. The alpha is the black and white channel which you can use to tweak or replace what's behind transparent surfaces. In Frame Buffer window you have a white circle near RGB values, switch that on and save your file. Then in Photoshop or Gimp or whatever post production software you use, replace the black with your desired image of a beach.

@zimmerkl said: When I render a photo matched texture in V-Ray it distorts. See Below. Podium renders the same file w/out distortion. Does anybody know if this issue has been corrected in V-Ray 3? Since I got that distortion, I started modeling stuff from scratch. Another option could be "Make Unique Texture" directly in SU, which will make the face gain the single texture of window/ cladding/ whatever... but sometimes Make Unique Texture doesn't work good because the object on which you project the texture, goes white.

Hi rjh0016, I guess you want to check the second icon, bottom left of your render frame called "force color clamping". (When this icon is unchecked like in your screenshot, this indicates with colors the amount of work for the processor to render the image. The more you go to the red, and then the black, the more difficult the image to calculate. This view is just an indicator for you to know where you could potentially try to simplify the scene to make the rendering time shorter). Hope this helps. Have a good day.
