The word for October was "Fright" Here is the website for the contest. http://drawthisfright.blogspot.com/ I think this will be my last contest, I just don't understand how they judge the winners. These are the winners. (My entry was a robot of course. ) [image: YVN1_IMG_3229.PNG]

Well I must like torturing myself. Had another go at this thing. Tweaked some of the materials. Redrew the flash lens. The way it was drawn I wasn't getting such a good result. Redrew lens so it was a solid piece and plugged some gaps on each side of the flash body. Still not sure of the best material set up for flash reflector. Might play with it some more. It's a frustrating model to work with. Froze up or crashed SU a good number of times. Was crashing TwilightV2 at every turn. I suspect it's the number of materials and how deep stuff is grouped. Wanted to create a bump map for the texture on the camera bodies but couldn't get SU to export the material. Got an error message every time. All in all not a bad second try. If I feel energetic might go back into the model and pare down the number of materials and see if things get a little more responsive. [image: f8RJ_JKiehlmann_Cameracopy3.jpg]

@nickchun said: I like it too. The AO is very subtle, how did you do that? Hi and Thanks the AO I rendered with the render plugin Shaderlight. AO is called there "Chalk Render" for whatever reason. Together with the line drawing PNG from SketchUp, this AO picture than became it´s own multiplying and 50% transparent layer in Photoshop ...

Some suggestions: More tables in the foreground and more physical lights in the ceiling.

Getting back plates to line up with the correct perspective and focal depth is really an art and it looks like you got it.

@rich o brien said: What is it? Just an abstract shape. The rings have inner soft lights rings. It's just a test model I made to see how Raylectron makes emitters and handles HDRIs. So yeah, nothing special.

@tuna1957 said: garystan, Really like the tone of your render. I do agree that the shadows seem a little off for a sunset/dusk scene. I don't understand your comment about shadows limited by the software? You can get very raking shadows by adjusting the time and month settings in the SU shadow window. I've attached a quickie render as an example. The time is 6:30 pm, the day is August 26th. Both set in the SU shadow window. It got me the very long raking shadows you'd see late in the day. tuna1957 : Now THAT'S a shadow. Do you set the GeoLocation ? The reason I ask, is that (if I'm correct) by using GeoLocation, you set the Longitudes and Latitudes for the sun. Thanks.....................garystan
