Golly gee, very nice comments. I see a lot talking about the sky and atmosphere. SO, I had nothing to do and made a video of me creating the sky. Now, I really just wanted to play with Camtasia. As for the video its hard to see exactly what I'm doing, so I'll explain. Simply 2 steps. First I place a gradient fill that is purple'ish and orange, then I selected a photograph of a sunset and set it to 50% opacity and placed it. Pretty simple. Here is the video

Pete these are great images and nice technique. I have never really completely understood how HDR's worked. I use Kerkythea and I have found that it is difficult if not impossible to position the HDR or global (are these terms interchangable?) The scale nevers appears to be correct and there dosn't seem to be a way of adjusting. Good work man

Yes , some well assigned materials to the object would make this even more awesome. Very cool.

Yes, I have to agree. When you compare price, Indigo is worth more for the bucks. Indigo needs more sky+sun control (seperate sun strength slider?) , but otherwise, the quality is really good.

Very impressive Tina, I like the way you handled the reflections. You will have to give us a step by step when you have some time to spare. Mike

Here's one of the photo-merges in photoshop. Still not 100%. I really wish people would let me finish one project at a time, lol. If only the world were perfect. [image: L0of_Untitled-1copy.jpg]

Bytor- Thank you- Yes, the city light and how to show it can/is a big issue. Sometimes it ends up looking more like a daytime scene... Solo- Thank you- SketchUp + FormFonts makes it easy(ish) to add those kind of details which push your output to a more tangible level for clients. Gaieus- oops, I thought this was your doing... Well, thank you for administrating it! I have to say- I really don't know much about rendering, it really is Kerkythea... I have been using it for quite a while and one of things I hopefully was able to help with, was telling all of the physics nerds (I say that with love...) that unless an architect nob, like myself can use this easily, we won't use it. The interface of Kerkythea has really come a long way and combine the plug-in SU2K- Literally, you can export you .skp to KT and hit render and get something you would show a client. Thanks again for the warm welcome, I look forward to learn and share with everyone here... Aaron "gistman" Gist

@dzinetech said: Its not a bad start but I think the texturing could do with a little work and some modelling tweaks: It looks like you are using QMC and Light cache as you render engines. I'd recommend switching the primary engine to Irradiance map. It also looks like you arent making use of the SketchUp sun so make sure you are happy with how the shadows appear in SketchUp and then turn them off, go to the vray options and global switches. Turn on Default lights and ensure that your environment and background maps are set to sky. Make sure you are also using the physical camera and try using the following settings. Shutter Speed=125 F-Stop=12 Iso=200 i changed this in my settings and this is the result . thx for the info, if you have more of these tips and willing to share them, please do! thx man! @chezet said: Hi I'm building a one station witch is much more detailed than those of mine. Like with tracks, trains and so on. I'd like to know a good tutorial of rendering images. That's still kind of new to me so I'd like to get it started. I am still continuing this project as well. Thank you. kerkythea (free) and podium (paid but not too much) are probably the easiest rendering applications around. i do not know of any good and complete tutorial for any of them. you will have to go to their forums to get more information.

Welcome - this is something I've already learnt in these forums - just thought the answer is faster this way than starting to find the original thread.

Hi Darren, glad to see you are posting on here now since the death of the old SU forums . I'm not really much of a fan of water colours either digital or manually painted tbh and there are far more qualified opinions in this area here than mine but my £0.02 worth would be to try outputing without using the tiled SU grass and build it up manually in PS perhaps with the addition of some grass blades/weed at the intersection of the stone wall. At the moment its just too 'clean' and needs a bit of saturation variation in the tones for me to feel as though it is a watercolour. Be sure to post your updates

Oops, somehow I missed the updates on this. Great work! One thing I would tweak - put a soft blur on the tree line across the lake. Not a lot, but some. If you take a look at the fidelity of the detail on the rooftop and check it with the tree line, you'll see what I'm talking about. It looks like the background is more in focus than the house. Looking good! When do I get to move in?
