very nice, its a pity you can't upload a higher quality image, as i think this would look a lot better like that. onto the pic: i like it a lot, very simple and effective.

Roger, The renders were created with Artlantis.

Thanks, and no, my bathroom isn't smelly. Most of the time. Thanks for the tip, but I think I'll stick to using Podium and Indigo, as I'm fairly comfortable with those apps. I respect Kerky and the work that's being put into it, but I find it's GUI a tad too complicated. For me, anyway. I admit, however, there's some mighty fine renders in the Kerky gallery.

Thanks for the comments. This was actually built in ADT (Architectural Desktop) as a BIM model. I used SU to create renderings, animations, and shadow study for presentation purposes. I turned off the edge display on the main facade rendering because there are so many unwanted lines showing that I didn't have time to clean them up (a drawback with importing models from a different program, they won't be as clean as being built directly in SU). I gave the trees slightly different scales but I guess I would need to rotate them to give further variation as you suggested. The time to build the model is hard to tell, as the design has been changed so many times. The time in SU is actually not very much, once I have all the entourages in place and the scenes setup, it's just the matter of reimport the updated model or portion of it, export the images, then sit and hope the computer won't crash. Thanks again. Other works I see here are fabulous.

Thank you, Daniel. Yes, I don't think there'd be no problem with the footrest. The bolt alignment would be similar to putting hinges on adjacent sides of a square box and expecting the lid to open. [image: W1U8_stoolfootrest.jpg]

Or adjust the radius of them... Actually you visit the KT forums - there's a nice tut (by whom I now forget) about soft shadows with sun. This should apply to spot lights, too but surely you could adjust them in SU. But then only export those and merge into the model

Thanks Daniel, Yeah thats the draw-back when it comes with curvy models in SU, I have optimized them but still a larger files if you have ten of them in a scene. I really plan my scene or put them on separate layers and turn the others off if they are not needed in the scene to speed things up... Thanks again, allanx

@unknownuser said: Mateo, I was wondering about that myself... Hopefully Respect's friend (on University) designed the whole lot and only had it modeled. None-the-less, I like the simplicity of the renders. Yes, he has designed everything, I just put it into SU and renderd it They don't learn that on University... P: Respect

Jeff, Off course you are right. There is a bit of difference between how the contest is 'meant to be' and how it really profilates. As much as the Contest holder (Podium team) wants it to be just a render competition, it is actually more of a modeling competition too. 'there is no good rendering without a good model', right? I think the 'intentions' here aren't the most important thing . don't see it as a 3dallusions/cgarchitect or whatever competition. This competition should be just big fun. And I think it is! And besides, it's the second Podium contest and there will probably follow more...maybe some pure architectural who knows. Here is a quick 'doodle' I did just as an experiment using one of the primitives of the contest SU file. This will off course not be a contest entry. (both images rendered within 5 minutes.original size: 2048 X 1536 ) [image: contestdoodlebis.jpg] [image: rendercontestdoodle1.jpg]

Those tree images in that link are commercial and almost certainly copyrighted- although the guys's been a bit foolish posting such large previews (and no legal notices!), but nevertheless using them would surely be a breach of copyright. I edited the post with a note to this effect. As usual, if it seems to be too good to be true.... Jackson

I second what Boo said, but would like to add that maybe this view isn't the best choice. Have you explored other options for views before rendering?

I must say that all the extremely nice comments are pleasant to hear. "Associate yourself with men of good quality if you esteem your own reputation; for ’tis better to be alone than in bad company. –George Washington I'm in good company!
