Interesting. The reviewer seems intent on using it as a way to operate a computer as one would an iPhone instead of using it was a drawing surface. Can it be drawn with? A quick web search reveals a completely different looking Bamboo Touch (artists concept?) that has a pen and looks more like a drawing tablet. EDIT: Nevermind. There is a "Bamboo Tablet" for $79 that is meant for drawing, the "touch" is something different.

To get a taste for SU without inferencing, turn off all edges and profiles in your style. Then navigate your large model. And remember, its still inferencing all the faces (on surface inference for example). It just doesn't have the edges to inference. It allows for much larger models with the lines off. Of course, SU is useless without edges on since you can't draw too much. Chris

Lively is dead and so it deserves to be, it looked like crap and it played like crap, but the idea of having a virtual space would be great, I create alot of my models on the same theme but with such large files and so many of them it's virtually impossible to display them in a scene, if there were virtual space available imagine the possibilities, allowing others to vertically walk your virtually masterpieces and vice versa, it doesn't have to be a virtual social mmo, just a space to create a visualisation, being anything, leave out all this avatar crap which they messed this lively concept up with, virtual space should be something available to SU users for creating large scenes, more or less like a game engine with built in renders and so on but for SU users.

you can put your SketchUp models (via kml/Collada) on it as well. ps. python author (Guido van Rossum) works at Google also it is easy to go phyton after you played with ruby (and vice versa)

An oldish thread but I'll poke in and let you know about 2 plugins that can easily access camera dialog box: S4U Camera Clipping - https://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=s4u_Clipping_Camera - a rather new plugin Legacy ThomThom's Camera Tools - https://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=43290. You access it via Camera > Advanced (and it has nothing to do with ACT). Have fun and never ever struggle with clipping!

very good ruby reminds me of a software called PHYTA it has same ability (direct video ,sound ,lighting and direct rendering plus shadows) all in one package 3d modelling (a voir)

that means that the user must export as OBJ first - not acceptable so I think I will use TextureWriter as there is no Ruby method that points to the .skm file to do a .zip parsing of .xml files. urgh thanks anyway
