@pbacot said: I'm curious how do you use this in workflow? I have been thinking about it, but not sure how you place and review the plants prior to final output.Sounds like a great idea. Peter Peter I usually export a "canvas" for the plants to be placed on in the second file. i.e. I would export the top surface of the planter, or flowerbed with a cut/paste in place , and then I know exactly where the plantings will be. I also create a new layer in the storage file for the plants, which will remain after importing back to the original file, so I can still turn the layer on or off, or even delete after making sure they are where you want them. I have also taken recently to just leaving the plants in the second file, and because the rendering program I use has a "merge" function (Thea), I will keep the high poly objects out of the original file until I go to render. Thea has no problems with high poly objects, and the merge function works great. My new i7 computer is not too bad, but my older imac, could really grunt under the high poly strain.

Spectacular stuff...and a heck of a lot more convincing and practically applicable than those voxel demos that crop up from time to time. The only thing that struck a false note is the fact that every tree seems to be standing in its own space rather than overlapping to form a solid canopy...a comparitively minor distribution factor. But as a proof of concept it's brilliant.

I know this is not accurate, but it reflects how I feel: Raytracing = cool. Path Tracing = cooler. Path Tracing + MLT sampling = Uber cool. Thanks, Octavian!

Mega textures are cool. Heres a movie: [flash=800,480:3gwpu4ac]http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=7481946[/flash:3gwpu4ac] There is currently also a plugin for Unity under development for mega textures called Virtual texture.

There is no 'name=' option for dictionaries - you have to clone the whole thing with a new name and delete the original. The core-code magically prevents the specific dictionary name [GSU_ContributorsInfo] from being 'made' or edited by the standard users [although we have seen that 'deleting' it is possible - but I'd think that's probably an oversight by Google] - BUT of course it IS editable somehow... because Google can do it !

I wasn't suggesting you remove a small face just merge its vertices so it vanishes...

To simulate typematics, it is preferable to use the animation API. Tricky, but works fine in the end (I used it in ThruPaint) Fredo
