RE: Looking for a Slice/Loop tool
@khai said:
thanks for suggesting slicer, but thats not what I'm looking for.. it's good, but I need 1 slice put exactly where I need it..
TIG, I think Khai is looking for your SectionCutFace Ruby script. Did you forget one of your own precious creations?
This is what it does. -
RE: Empty Model is 13.6MB???
Did you delete embedded components and textures?
These are the two usually most heavy.
Use PurgeAll script. -
RE: Sketchup 7.1 bugs
I thought somebody reported the loss of their plugins... now I cannot find the post, was I dreaming?
Anyway, after upgrading to 7.1, looks like all of my toolset is gone except Google's.
Script files are physically there, sitting in two "Plugins" folders (I'm on a Mac), and they are enabled at [SketchUp]>[Preferences]>[Extensions].
Some of them are visible in my workspace. Others I have no way to start them.
IF anybody encountered the similar problems and solved it, please let me know.

Is it possible to solve it with this model?
Thanks!Yes, I said so. Next time, try it for yourself.

RE: Two components too one piece?
What Gaieus explained with two cylinders is absolutely right.
What can fix the problem? I think this is one possibility... no matter how complex the model is, you should be able to do it with five clicks (two for selecting edges with bounding box, one to click the icon for the tool, then last two clicks for indicating the vector).

At present I am collecting short tutorials that I find on the Internet, and hold them together in a word document, to get a quick overview about what each ruby is used for.
Perhaps it would be an idea if we collect in the forum references for the different rubies and put it in central Manual which later can be downloaded.
Yes I thought about that too, a year ago.
Not quite what you are referring to, but close.

I replaced the icons in "IMAGES_Standard" subfolder with the icons set of choice and all went ok.
Yes the trick did the job, thanks Dan.

RE: Idea for rotate
It's possible with native SU axis, well, to a certain degree.
Go [Tools] > [Axes], set axis to your preference freely in 3D, then right-click axis and "Align View".
Now your view is changed to "Top View" with the current blue axis (wherever it is).
The problem of this method is, it won't stick. The moment you orbit it will be gone.
So this technic is just for viewing a model from fixed viewpoints. -
RE: Crazy Triangles when exporting as JPG
I guess there are more than two faces co-existing in the same spaces.
That's a no-no. -
RE: Saving all scenes as JPEG?
Try Didier's ADO (Automatic 2D output) especially if you are on Windows machines.
@ http://www.crai.archi.fr/RubyLibraryDepot/Ruby/em_ren_page.htm"Automatic 2D output from pages. Features: pages settings, images settings, creates 6 standard ortho views, creates 4 standard axonometric views, exports either standard pages, or user pages, or all pages to various bitmap and vector format files. Supported output formats: jpg,tif,bmp, tga, png, dwg,dxf,eps,pdf."

RE: Wanted: Stretch tool
honoluludesktop,
What you described in the last two ACAD screen captures can be done (of course in 3D) with native MOVE tool of SU with appropriate selection.
If it's windows you want to change dimensions, Rick's Windowizer has little-known inheriting and editing functions.
It's not stretching, I should rather call it "re-creating" that window. But it will take the same amount of time and do the job.
Windowizer 4 makes double-sided (3D) windows.

RE: Triangles to quads
I assume that those diagonals in quads are for triangulation sake, IOW quads won't lose faces without them?
In that case you might be able to use deletecoplanaredges.rb by J. Dolabany (http://www.crai.archi.fr/RubyLibraryDepot/Ruby/en_edi_page.htm). Select the mesh you want make into quads and run the script from right-click context menu. -
RE: [Plugin] VisMap - Layer/Scene Visibility Map
@bob james said:
It worked perfectly with a small test model, but when I applied it to my current large model all I got was a blank dialog box. I tried all kinds of "open, close, scene update, save, etc. tricks", even the right click "reload".
Bob, I am also on a Mac and having a similar problem.
In my case, when VisMap spreadsheet is bigger than dialog box, one of the followings will fix the visibility issue;- Move the dialog box then size-drag to fit VisMap spreadsheet.
- Go to another program and come back, then resize the dialog box.
Hope it helps.

RE: [Plugin] VisMap - Layer/Scene Visibility Map
Hi Martin,
Since I was having the blank dialog box problem too (in my case, I had to go to another program once and come back to SU to get Vismap display right), I tried the above house.skp and vismap.js files.
with house.skp, vismap showed a small blank dialog box first, so I dragged its edge to maxmize it and the content of the box appeared.
So I installed vismap.js. With it, vismap showed dialog box right, although it was small at the beginning.
Then funny things started happening. I opened several of my own models and tried vismap, but it kept showing the layer structure of house.skp! Now this is weird. -
[Request] Clever Outliner
I use Outliner extensively. Cannot live without it, cannot have enough of it, I dream about it at night.
But at the same time it's a piece of sh?t.
It doesn't sort components and groups by names, it always shows the entire tree structure in the file when it is opened, it doesn't...
I should stop now.
I just imagine how so much more useful it will be if Outliner features these simple functions... can it be done? -
RE: [SQ] Move an object into a Group ?
Hi Simon,
I cannot stress the usefulness of Outliner enough.

RE: Help with extensions
Under the Plugin folder, you should have;
[clf_shape_bender_loader.rb](a loader file)
[clf_shape_bender](folder containing scripts and icons)If nothing solves your problem, consult with this thread;

RE: Help with extensions
There are two Plugin folders in OSX.
'Hard Drive'/Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 7/SketchUp/Plugins (of course it should be [Google SketchUp 6] if you have SU6).
Are you using the folder above?
