I usually keep Entity Info Panel hanging on the right side of the main window.
When I need to name groups, I just type in there, easy... unless you work on a laptop, then you have a real estate problem.

RE: How to erase the box of line in group
qiucx,
Let me approach your problem from a different angle.
First of all, bounding boxes will be always visible, even for a group of lines that are on the same axis. In that case, bounding box is linear so it doesn't appear to be a box but it still is a box.@qiucx said:
When we draw two connected lines and move one of them, the another line will be moved togather by SU.
That's when I use copy (m + ctrl) and delete, instead of move command.
You duplicate a line that is connected to another, and place it wherever you desire, then go back to the original and erase it forever from the surface of the earth (or your model).
Don't have enough info about what kind of drawing/model you are working on so I might be missing a point. -
RE: Follow-me tool along split path?
Hi Bob,
I may be misunderstanding and it is far from a simple "one-click operation",
but... is this what you want to do?EDIT: "each tube is a group" should be an option of Lines2Tubes plugin.
EDIT2: You don't have to start with a wireframe... could (or should?) be a simple cube.

Oops.
"PayPal does not currently support Donation Payments from buyers in JP. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."
So is there other ways? -
RE: [Plugin] SectionCutFace
Cheers TIG!!
What this plugin does is the kind of "update" many of us seculars wanted to see in SketchUp 2013... am I wrong? I mean, it doesn't even require an additional icon they (The spirituals) are said to be so afraid of...
As I have taken a long, winding and masochistic LayOut path just like many of SCF members here, your SectionCutFace plugin is already indispensable.
....donation is definitely on the way! -

did i reach the limits of su?
I often build SU models like 50-60MB. My PC, although it is 64bit, doesn't even have separate graphic card. It's "on chip".
When I navigate within models like it, I always turn off shadows and sometimes even turn off "use sun for shading" option.
This trick helps me a lot most of the time, however when that is not enough, I turn off textures in "Face Style" (i.e., checking "shaded" or "hidden lines"). BTW I'm totally content with my PC. -
RE: Any way to get rid of z/x/y line locking yet?

I don't know what you mean here.
Try this.
http://sketchup.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=70138The next time when you have to draw the line like this, rotate the axis around z-axis beforehand.
10, 15, 45... any degrees will do, as far as the new X/Y axis is far enough not to interfere your drawing direction; however...@agamemnus said:
The angle is very close to 90, and Sketchup gets confused on what to do. It thinks I want to put the end-point on the edge of a line (the 90 degree angle), instead of at the crossing point (not 90 degrees). See the attachment for an illustration.
Your image is showing an alternative reference point (the crossing point of three lines).
In this case, all you have to do is to get close enough view to this point when you terminate the line.
Close enough for SketchUp to make distinction between the X-axis(red) and the crossing point.
Most of the time, this zooming trick will do the job. my two cents. -
RE: Any way to get rid of z/x/y line locking yet?
Hi agamemnus,
When you draw such a line, how do you know where exactly your destination point is?
There must be some entities waiting already at the destination for referencing, or you should know the distance and the angle to the destination point beforehand, I presume.
In either cases, you shouldn't have any problems drawing the line; but there must be other situations I cannot think of yet, then...
Unless you are drawing such lines in every other minutes, you can change axis temporarily by right-clicking the axis and "place" or "move"?
After drawing the line, you can happily go back to the original axis by "reset". (I think you know the trick already, maybe feeling too cumbersome about it?) -
RE: [Plugin] Export Vertices to CSV
I was wondering why such a plugin doesn't exist... it must be awfully hard to code, I imagined.
Then I opened TIG's latest script - what? a little more than 30 lines can do this?
TIG must be a genius (maybe I didn't have to tell you that). Thanx! -

ChrisYes, luckily.
They are indicating anchor points of curtain walls.
They run from top to bottom. Does that help? -
RE: Connecting construction points, automatically
Thanks for comments, guys.
To make myself a little more clear, I attach an explanatory image of what I want to do.
Yes there must be an order for connecting points - that would be an order of creation, I guess. No I don't want to create a mesh. All I need is just connecting points linearly.

Connecting construction points, automatically
Hi.
I've been concentrating on lurking for quite a while, sorry about that.
Today, a big problem in SU hit me and I just cannot resolve it by myself. Time to rely on a good old community. There must be a way to automatically connect a series of construction points by simple edges... I just gotta know.
Tried many plugins... I suspect "loft" type plugins (i.e. TIG's Extrude Edges) might be able to do it, but so far I cannot find a way.
Any ideas? -

Hey that's not a bad idea...
So they saw a problem in the scrolling ball too, right? -
RE: Apple Magic Mouse and SketchUp?
Of course new mighty mouse will work beautifully - until some dust gets tangled up with the ball - then you realize that it's actually cleaning-resistant!

RE: Can we select by layer?
@tig said:
It is built-in. Select an Object on the required Layer. Right-click...
Yes and No, because [Select by right-click context menu] works only on a free single entity (such as an edge or face), not a group or a component. And it goes against the golden rule of SU "all free entities should be in Layer 0".
However, once invoked, the function selects groups and components as well as free entities.
So if you don't mind going over trouble of changing the layer of a free entity for the sake of the function, yes, it could work. -
RE: Can we select by layer?
Not with native SU tools, but with Didier's Layer manager, it's possible.
Try [Select/Deselect layer content] tool of Layer manager. -

RE: [Plugin] SliceModeler v1.3 released!
Well I don't want to play the police here when TIG himself doesn't, but...
I was doing some research prior to writing a post about TIG's Slicer in Visual Index of Ruby Scripts, and then I naturally came to realize the existence of this script.
One thing really bothered me about this script is not the fact that asteronimo is trying to make money out of it (ok, he is not selling the script, but he is asking donations for his tweaks I understand), but the fact he erased TIG's copyright from the script and replaced with his own name.
Don't really know what his intentions are, but I just have to let you guys know something very fishy is taking place here.
