?? I might be completely out of touch on this one... cuz I thought you can always print to scale as long as you follow few "musts", no matter which direction your facade is facing. Correct me if I'm wrong.

      1. Turn on parallel projection
      2. Go to [File]-[Document Setup], uncheck [Fit View to Page], set [Print Scale] to your preferences.
      3. Right click any face in your model that's parallel to drawing sheet, select [Align View] from context menu.
      4. [File]-[Print], set preferences and PRINT.

Printed sheet should be in the scale you set in {Document Setup]... No? πŸ˜•

      OK, I admit, it's a Mac thing.
I tried the same with Win XP via Parallel and couldn't do it.
However, if you have Pro-version you can always go to Layout and print anything to scale, and there is a bonus of getting textures and shadows in your scaled drawings.
I also tried isometric drawings and the trick seems to work in Layout.

Sorry for confusing you guys. 😳

The problem is that the Scale settings are disabled unless you are in one of the Standard views or aligned to a Section Cut. That's why you have to do quirky workarounds.

Um, are you sure? I really feel like making some fundamental mistakes... Let's find where I went wrong.
I used "Notre Dame de Paris" by KΓ©vin GIRARD in 3D Warehouse as an example. The models is set to real axis in Paris, so it is off from SU's default axis as you can see in attached jpeg.

      Error 404 (Not Found)!!1

      favicon

      (sketchup.google.com)

Then I got an aligned view to one of SouthWest facade using the method I mentioned above, printed it to PDF with 1 to 1000 scale. That's the first page of the attached PDF.

I went a step further to make an isometric drawing (page2 and page3).

      1. I created a cube that is aligned to the axis of the Chapel
      2. then truncated it and got an aligned view to the newly created face.
      3. Printed the view to PDF, again with 1 to 1000 scale.
      4. If you check the drawing, all measurements are correct according to the description of isometric distortion in Wikipedia (the bottom jpeg).

The models is set to real axis in Paris

      an elevation and isometric drawings

      a truncated cube

      correct isometric distortion (from Wikipedia)

      Fredo,
Thanks for the new version, Default Setting Window seems to be working normally now.
But you left out Translation window... please fix translation windows as well when you have time.

      Jeff,
      I see what you mean.
I talk to Goh a lot by emails, so I'll point him to this thread.
With the information provided in this thread, it should be a matter of minutes for him to fix the issue.

How about dragging two of icons from 1001bit toolbat to the top of the window? [menu]-[view]-[customize toolbar]
If you go to [menu]-[view]-[tool pallets], you should see other smller toolbars for 1001bit tools.
Yet another solution is assigning shortcuts to those two rubies you use and hide 1001bit toolbar altogether.

      Hi TIG,

Another brilliant ruby script from the brilliant mind.
I'm going to add this gem to pushpullbar's Ruby Index, so let me clarify a couple of things before I do that.

      1. Should I have the link few posts above as the "definite" version of archiver.rb for now? Can I request Didier Bur to update your archiver.rb in Ruby Library Depot to the above version? It doesn't look like Didier had time to update the site for quite some time.
      2. I always thought "_" is more common (less problematic) divider than "-" in file names, is there any specific reason you chose "-" as a default divider?

      Thanks in advance.

I think, with the new "Lib6Traductor_31.rb", arrow keys work, Fkeys that are not assigned shortcuts in SU work, Alt/Option key still works as Ctrl key. I couldn't test Shift key.
Below I copied and pasted what was in Ruby console when I typed Fkeys.

      F2
      Key Mac 63237 flags = 0 up = false
      Key Mac 63237 flags = 8388864 up = true
      F3
      Key Mac 63238 flags = 8388864 up = true
      F4
      Key Mac 63239 flags = 0 up = false
      Key Mac 63239 flags = 8388864 up = true
      F5

    • RE: Call to Mac users for script portability

      Hi Fredo6,

Your new "Lib6Web_31.rb" didn't make any change as long as issue D2 is concerned, neither for the Default Parameters and Translation dialog boxes.

      *%(#804000)[On keyboard issues

      1. I made a modif to try catching the Function Key (in the attached LibTraductor_31.rb file). Can you also retest the Arrows and TAB.]*
Fkeys, tab and arrows still don't work.

      2) By the way, does the CTRL and SHIFT modifiers work appropriately, in Toggle or when depressed?
No they don't. However, alt/option key works as if it is ctrl key.

      3) If Function Keys are not ideal on Mac, do you have any suggestion of other shortcuts than could be used instead ?
I'm rather new to Macs, I will wait for Jeff's comment.

    • RE: Call to Mac users for script portability

Hi Fredo6, thanks for your hard work... did you work through the weekend on plugins? 😲

I think Question A has been answered in detail by jeff, so I'll try to answer Question B on.

      B. KEYBOARD AND MOUSE

B1 Does the RETURN / Enter keys works? (you can use them instead of mouse clicking)
      A Yes

B2 Does some or all of the Function keys work? FreeScale uses F2, F3, F4, F5
A Yes, but they are assigned special functions on Mac so I assume most people will change the shortcuts.
EDIT: Sorry my answer was self-contraditing. Since they are already assigned special functions, they won't work properly most of the time on Macs.

B3 Does Tab works? It is used for calling dialog boxes for parameters
      A Yes.

B4 Any other issue with the keyboard or mouse?
A Not that I know of.

      C. MENUS AND TOOLBARS

      C1 Any particular issues?
A They seem to be ok.

      D. WEB DIALOGS
This is probably the area where there are most of the problems.
In FreeScale, I use Web dialogs only for Default Parameters and Translation, in Tools > Fredo6 Collection > FreeScale

D1 does the Web Dialog window get the focus when opening?
      A Yes

D2 does it show correctly? and if it does not, is there a way to restore a normal appearance by resizing it, moving it, changing the focus and coming back, etc....
A They are often too narrow to display all their contents, and there is really no way to change sizes of them right now. Exception is translation dialog box and Default setting dialog box, they are adjustable.

D3 can you type characters in input fields, and are they taken into account?
      A Yes

D4 can you click on buttons, check boxes, combo boxes, etc....
      A Yes

D5 Do you see double-byte characters. Go to the Translation box, and check the combox box on languages at the top?
A Yes, I use my own Japanese packs and they display with no problem.

D6 Any other issues on Web Dialog
      A No.

    • RE: [Plugin][$] FredoScale - v3.6a - 01 Apr 24

Hi Fredo, here is Japanese language pack for your FreeScale plugin.
Funny thing is that I couldn't find where many of my translations are used.
I also noticed none of tooltips or most of context menu (shown in the attached pic) are not translated, at least on Mac OSX.
These are the first place where people get ideas of what the ruby is about, so I think they should be translated too, no?

Thanks for all your hard work to help SU catch the current of the world.
Without people like you, SU would have been obsolete software long time ago.

    • RE: KitoRaupp's SketchUp Test

      Hi all,
What Kito is doing in the video can be re-created by using native SU tools only.
      My understanding of his method is;

      1. Draw a circle above the origin
      2. Rotate copy it by 5degrees by the origin
      3. Pushpull the copied circle
      4. Rotate the pushed-out face so that it is in vertical position
      5. The previous step makes all the side faces of the cylinder triangulated (important)
      6. Move the (now vertical) pushed-out face so that it overlaps with the first circle you drew
      7. Draw a line on the side of cylinder by tracing one of softened edges (actually this can be any edges on the cylinder)
      8. Rotate copy the resulting wedge by the origin, create a torus
      9. Select the lines on the torus, scale it with native SU SCALE tool

      Enjoy!

Now is there a plugin that can turn things inside out? I would much rather do that instead of making the other edge which is a pain.

Look what you got there Blah, it's already reversed!
I mean, it's a matter of which way you extend these thread surfaces as a volume, introverted or extroverted.
      Or am I missing something?
Just group them and make a copy in the place.
Keep modeling one of them as an internal volume, and the other as an external volume.

One wish from me - Is it possible to pick a reference point (a vertice that sticks to the path) when placing profiles onto a path?
Right now it uses centers (more or less) of faces?
