Works fine on PC and MAC for me - provided that simple rule is followed.

I did follow that simple rule, however, I made a stupid mistake elsewhere. 😳
I installed the plugin to the reservoir folder (mysteriously named "Plugins" just by chance! πŸ˜‰ ) that I made especially to keep and archive all the plugins… so it wasn't installed properly to begin with.
Now it's installed to "plugins" under Sketchup folder, and working fine.
Sorry to waste your time, guys.

Does SectionCutFace work with Macs (OSX10.7, Mountain Lion)?
No SectionCutFace context menus available when section planes are right-clicked... ❓

      Thanks everybody for insightful tips.

One of the simplest things is to use an onscreen keyboard, this lets you hit crtl, alt etc as needed and change tools easily. would work well with a wacom.

      I didn't even know such a thing as on-screen keyboard existed. 😳
This method is easy and has no learning curve. However it's not as fast as keyboard shortcuts (basically the same as using icons to send commands), and takes too much onscreen real estate.

      Pilou;
But, that is not sketchup! (but but, I love MOI too. A lovely prog.)

You could try to use a mouse gesture program, IΒ΄ve used stroke it with great sucess you just have to spend some time creating the gestures and getting used to it.

Tell me you are not a genius and I won't believe you!
What I really liked about this method is that all my original shortcuts are directly translatable to mouse gestures.
What I mean by this is:

      Command >> Gesture
      G >> G
      Alt + G >> Reversed G
      Ctrl + G >> g (lower case)

"Reversed T" does not mean "mirrored" or "upside down", but T drawn backwards, as in counter-clockwise O to clockwise O. As soon as these rules were established, I had a whole keyboard under my command, literally.
There was no learning curve, since I kept the same, old, time-tested and beloved shortcuts; all of them.
I even added some new shortcuts because now key-combos as "Alt + P" or "Alt + L" are just as easy to type as "Alt + C"!
What is really amazing is after half a day of mouse gesturing, I'm already back to my previous speed, if not faster.
I have a feeling that I will be using mouse gestures even after my left arm comes back to business.
I cannot thank you enough, jaceguay! πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰

One more thing, I found that Strokeit was kind of obsolete as the last release was in 2010.
There is a good substitute program called Strokeplus, its last update was last month. It has easy-to-use GUI and an extensive help file too.

    • Single-hand input method for SketchUp

      Hello.
Over the holidays I broke my left arm when I fell off from my skateboard. πŸ‘Š
As a result, I re-discovered SIRI and am really impressed with its capability (I'm writing this post with it).
However, when it comes to CAD, thing are not so easy.
So far, the best one-hand input method for SketchUp is a programmable mouse (Logicool G400).
I assigned modifier keys (ctrl, alt, shift...) to its four buttons and that helped me a great deal.
I only wish if my mouse had 27 more buttons...
So my question is, what is the best CAD input method (or device) for a person with only one working hand?
Is 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse good in my case? Looks like it still needs a separate mouse.
How about Siri? Can it be used with SketchUp in anyway? Maybe a Wacom pen-tablet?
      Any suggestions are welcome!

    • RE: Cloud sketchup like Adobe creative cloud

OMG! Little Rascals is going cloud? Is that what this thread is about?
Wonderful. They never made it in Japan, you know... πŸ˜†

I think there are some confusions in the original proposition.
The title mentions to "Adobe Creative Cloud (basically a form of licensing strategy)", then shinyaohno says something about AWS (Amazon Web Service, Software-as-a-Service model).
If my memory serves me correct, your software is on your HD with ACC, whereas you don't install software to your HD with AWS. You do your computing with ACC, they do (most of) your computing with AWS.
From the context of argument, I assume he means AWS, not ACC.
Say that is true and I don't agree with him.

Seems to me that most of SU's performance problems come from its own backbones. SU at its current state cannot utilize what's available in our workstations to its fullest; therefore, it doesn't look like it is a kind of problem that can be solved with Rubies either.
Going cloud is a tremendous investment, I hope that Trimble rather puts that check into 64bit, multi-threaded, GPU-powered version of SU.
      My two cents.

    • RE: [Plugin] RichSection V0.5.8 UPDATED march 2015

If I'm in a minority who is having trouble using RichSection, it must be because of something esoteric in my Plugins folder... a recent plugin, not a kind that everybody installs...

      @pgarmyn said:

In 'procesRS' I have only twice 'layer='
      It can't be the first:

Layer? layer... Let me check, I'm not a "layer" person, I'm rather a "group" person, I don't have many layer-oriented plugins. In fact, I have only one: Layers Panel.
      http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=323%26amp;t=52225

I reinstalled Layers panel and then tried RS, it doesn't work.
I uninstalled Layers panels and tried RS again, it works. Gotcha.

    • RE: [Plugin] RichSection V0.5.8 UPDATED march 2015

      pgarmyn,

I thought this might be getting nowhere with 200+ plugins, so I did a big cleanup of my Plugins folder for the first time in 10years, cut them down to around 100.
Those are indispensable 100s, so I was really nervous when re-starting SU... Voila! your RS worked (so did everything else)!
Thank you for the wonderful plugin, now I have to taste a dip of it.

Can you try running the plugin alone, after switching off other plugins (+ restart SU)?
Let me know if that makes the difference ..... πŸ˜„

If RichSection is running alone, it works.
Then I added "offset.rb" which I no longer needed back to Plugins folder, RichSection stopped working. So I figured it was "offset.rb", I erased it from Plugins folder and put everything else back in. Then RichSection stopped working again and I got the error message:
"Error: #<TypeError: reference to deleted DrawingElement>
      (eval):2134:in layer=' (eval):2134:in procesRS'
      (eval):1456:in updateRichSection1' (eval):1373:in createRichSection'
      (eval):1318:in toolRScreate_part2' (eval):97:in onElementAdded'
      (eval):2415"

Hmmm, there must be a bad guy hidden inside my Plugins folder. I have something like 200 plugins, where should I start...

Do you use components or groups? Are they closed in the sectionplan?
Test it with a Solid without changing any parameter in the dialog box?

Is there any error on the Ruby panel?

I tried it with a solid group, still no result.
      There is an error reported in Ruby panel. It goes;

"Error: #<TypeError: reference to deleted DrawingElement>
      (eval):2134:in layer=' (eval):2134:in procesRS'
      (eval):1456:in updateRichSection1' (eval):1373:in createRichSection'
      (eval):1318:in toolRScreate_part2' (eval):97:in onElementAdded'
      (eval):2134"

BTW I updated RichSection to the latest version.

Yeah it's kinda late, get some sleep. πŸ˜†

Seriously, can you only select the part of face on the board that you want to keep as the result of this push/pull? What I am suspecting is that those lines are not really dividing the face of the board as you intend to... maybe they are not edges (one of them look like construction line), maybe the board is a group. πŸ˜•
