Yes, its either the section plane still on in the scene or your background in the style is not set to pure white.

RE: SU scene not matching LO scene
If you have them on different layers, it is easy to set which layer is above the other layer. If they are in the same layer use the "Arrange" option to either bring the scene to the front or back.

RE: How much to model?
Andy is right on. Always consider your deliverable and what you want to show as you model. I mainly work in SU and use LO only for notation, dimensions and rendering scenes. I also haven't been around much lately. I'll try to get back in more as time permits.

It's unfortunate that the audio seemed to drop out on Nick's presentation.
That was when I went into some inappropriate rant with lots of cuss words.

RE: Base Camp 2014.
The last evening at the fire pit was hilarious. Thanks to Mike, Rich & Paul for sending me on my 7 hour drive with a proper hang over! Great times!

RE: Base Camp 2014.
Packed all the stuff tonight. Will be at the Cascade Saturday afternoon. Hitting the slopes on Sunday. I imagine there is a bar we can meet up for those arriving early to maybe coordinate a few runs together on Sunday. Looking forward to seeing you all there.

RE: Base Camp 2014.
Vail's Ticket prices are absurd! I get my whole family season passes to Squaw Valley and Alpine for around $1300. I think I will spend the same next week for 3 days of skiing.....O'well.

RE: Open with Image Editor
I only use it to edit image files that I insert into LO, such as renderings.

I also give them an Acad export of my layout file in PS.
What does this mean? Thanks!
Hey. Bet you're glad to see some snowfall.Peter
PS= Paper Space. LO let's you export either model space or paper space.
On the snow.....right now it is barely coming down. We've got next to nothing! What a bummer of a ski season so far!

RE: 30 x 42 paper size
Yes, 30"x42" is E size in US. I stopped using this size as the contractors hate it in the field. I only use D size now (24" x 36").

RE: REVIT vs ARCHICAD
I coordinate with engineers all the time. I give them a full 3D export of the SU model in V10. I also give them an Acad export of my layout file in PS. Never had any issues whatsoever. In fact the Revit users rave at the simplicity compared to the architects using ACAD, due to the layer structure of my SU model.
FWIW, I do mainly high end residential work as well. I use nothing but SU & LO.

So many people told me the SketchUp wasn't a "REAL" 3d program. Obviously they have no idea what they are talking about. Glad I didn't listen.
I've heard that many times as well. Always makes me laugh.

RE: LumenRT Training Needed - Willing to pay.....
Nice work guys! I love this software. So fast with amazing results. I do all my rendering with it now.
One quick suggestion- add some lights under water in the sidewall of the pool. LumenRT works some magic with water.

RE: Best GPU for Sketchup + Thea GPU Rendering?
I currently have a 680 GTX 4gb and it is really fast. In talking with the guys over at Eon, I will be getting a Titan next.

RE: Pages and layers are jumping up the stack
I can only think that your pointing device may be at fault. Check your settings. You may have it at "hover/select". This would result in potentially selecting and dragging accidentally.

RE: Screened halftone ghost layers
You could also simply create a "screen" on the same layer as your furniture. Simply draw a rectangle the full extents of the drawing, with no bounding edge and a transparent fill in white. Arrange your furniture within the layer to back. Set the entire layer to be below your symbols.

RE: Base Camp 2014.
Hi Chris:
I'm hopeful I can make it. Work has me a little slammed right now, but it should free up in time. Hard to miss this venue!
