check that "Camera > Perspective" is enabled and the FoV at "Camera > Field of View" is configured to 30 degrees (or higher).

with digital monitors always use the native resolution of the display (here 1920 x 1080).

if Windows 7/8/10 you can check if you have fiddled with the text/icon size scaling of Windows by clicking at "Make text and other items larger or smaller" and adjust the scaling to a smaller value:

So when I disable hardware acceleration, is the GPU still doing all the graphics export work?

no, the rendering is then done in software by the CPU. Depending on the horsepower of the CPU this may not be much slower (or faster) than the GPU, especially in connection with integrated/shared low-end solutions like the intelHD series of many notebooks.

How can I tell if investing more $$$ into a better card will have the desired effect...and which card to go with?

you can't... go with a nVidia Geforce GTX 960 or better (Asus Strix or MSI TwinFrozr are fine). Check the wattage of the power supply (>= 350 W) and the available space of the case before doing that.

    • RE: Significant Issues with Exporting 2d Graphics

the SU display and print ouput as well as the raster export is done by the OpenGL stack of the used video driver by default.

For testing if the GPU of your Quadro K4000 is the bottleneck rendering high resolutions, disable the hardware based raster image processing of SU under "Window > Preferences > OpenGL" before exporting to a raster format.

Be aware, that doubling the image resolution (width/height) squares the amount of raster data to calculate.

Draftsight also works very well, and it has a free version.

the Teigha Viewer is free, a full blown CAD system overkill for doing this... especially with DraftSight (OEM Graebert CAD) using the Teigha DXF/DWG engine anyhow.

open in the free Teigha Viewer and save down to the DWG v2000 format.

...use the 64-bit version and its benefits for normal professional work.

there is no benefit besides using render plugins relying heavily on the memory management of SU.

actually some video drivers (AMD) and their 64-bit OpenGL support do not work flawless with SU x64.

downloading DLLs from unknown sources and adding to the operating system folders is surely not the best way to solve these issues... security wise.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on? I just had video card upgraded. does it need even more memory on the card??? Does it need a new driver?
      ...
video card: NVIDIA Quadro K4000...dviver version 9.18.13.3182
driver date . Driver date 11/11/2013

why buying a lame/old graphics card today?

if disabling "Window > Preferences > OpenGL > Use Hardware Acceleration" fixes the problem, the OGL support of the used video driver and/or the OGL performance of the used GPU is flaky. Drop the card and buy something capable as e.g. a GTX 960 (or better) ...besides the case is to small or the PSU to weak.

    • RE: 2016 & 2015 pro license question

the license is bind to the network adapters (MAC) used during initial product activation, therefore you should be able to install and activate the rev. 2015 on your system after 60 days until network adapters still available (likely).

as always, no guarantee on anything, ask Trimble for anything obliging.
