more RAM obviously only if RAM is full, check the Windows Task Manager for this.

My modeling strategy is something I need to improve. That is one area I never learned much about.
upgrading to a GeForce GTX 750Ti would roughly double, to a GTX 960 roughly triple the GPU speed... which won't help if the CPU (likely) is the bottleneck.
If ever buying a new system, go with a high-clocked intel Core i5/i7 CPU (SU is currently single-threaded, thus multiple cores don't help).

Don't you mean 980?
I'm talking of SU only, dunno Lumion.
@roland joseph said:
...in the mean time my used and battered old 180 dollar 780 is getting 20880 points on the Lumion native benchmark test.
and ~8,000 Passmark points, which is great... but not everybody (especially companies) wanna buy used hardware from unknown sources as e.g. gamers overclocking to the max (and beyond)... and fans may get worn out after years of egoshooting too

This doesn't sound right, any links to substantiate?
This isn't right, actually it's completely the contrary.
The CAD series nVidia Quadro FX and AMD FirePro (formerly FireGL) are much more expensive than the comparable consumer card (GPU) simply because driver development (OpenGL) and certification with CAx systems needs to be charged.
If new, a GF GTX 960 delivers the best bang for the buck, the Asus and MSI models with twin fans are recommendable.
.x_t is the Parasolid format (formatted as text) typically containing surfaces and volumes based on NURBS faces...
... if not to big zip and mail it to me and I will convert preferably to STEP or SAT, IGES is available in different flavours (concerning type of suface definition) and therefore may lead to unexpected results (untrimmed faces) depending on the destination system.

Sketchup compatibilty is top priority for me as this is the software that I am earning my living with.
adhering to the system requirements seems to have the highest priority then...

Call me old fashioned but I just don't like the idea of having to ... re-learn the operating system...
which would be required switching to a Linux distribution...
@davidmreinbold said:
I am not to keen on the every worsening hidden privacy issues and unwanted data collection side of things either.
you can just disable them... and there are already free tools for doing this in one central place.
in short, sticking with W7 until end of life (beginning of 2020) is the choice of pragmatism.

If you bought SU Pro 2015 before 30/07/2015 you could have had it as the old price, new price is quite a bit higher (US $700 now).
owning a SU v8 Pro license already an upgrade (plus reinstatement fee) is sufficent, no need to buy a new full license.
SU Make versions are for a non-commercial usage only... sothat this may already end thoughts in this direction.
you surely have checked already that "Window > Preferences > OpenGL > USe Hardware Acceleration" is enabled...
... and that, if using a double-GPU system with an integrated e.g. intel GPU and the dedicated nVidia GPU, SketchUp is running on the GeForce and not the internal (slow) GPU e.g. if running in power-saving mode.
Check the 3D Settings in the nVidia Control Panel for configuring that 3D applications in general and SketchUp in particular always use the GeForce instead of the automatic mode which tends to fail especially under W7:

'Enrollment Fee', also 94,- plus 49,- = ⏠143,- (1 Jahr Wartung)...
Norbert
did you have installed the latest SUP v8 M5 version?
did you have the Microsoft .NET Framework v2.0 required by SU v8 installed?
Systems Requirements of SU v8 did not covered Win 8+.
lots of info concerning this issue at the SU Community Forum.
Norbert
if your maintenance is running you should have received already your SUP 2015 license data by your supplier approx. in November 2014. Be aware, that license data of older SUP versions as e.g. your SUP 2014 won't work with the recent SUP 2015.
if you do have the SUP 2015 license data and don't wanna user the SUP 2014 version further, remove the license data in SUP 2014 via "Help > License" and enter your SUP 2015 license data either in the splash dialog resp. "Help > License" at the new system. An active internet connection and a LAN adapter as well as a working MS Internet Explorer v9+ resp. Apple Safari is required for doing this.

no measurement but the offic. SketchUp Mobile Viewer f. Android may fulfill parts of your requirements.

Doesn't fit real world use
maybe but the license agreement is typically defined by the licensor and not the licensee, if you don't wanna adhere to the license terms just ignoring them and using as you want might lead to a situation as described above.
