RE: Layout Page Name Export
Thanks TIG,
I already do this using acrobat. Im wondering if its something that might get built into LO as a feature at some point. It was a feature that I used on every project when I was working with VectorWorks and was a massive time saver. Splitting large documents is very time inefficient, especially as all of the page data has already been entered once in LO. Just think being able to do this from LO would be useful.
Cheers

Layout Page Name Export
Hi All,
Just wondered if there's a way to batch export PDFs from a LO document. Was able to do this on VectorWorks and its really useful. In VW, you set up your pages / sheets and when you do a batch export you can either export them as one multi page PDF document or as individual PDFs for each page. When exported the individual PDFs are named the same as the sheet in VW.
Does anyone know if this is possible in SU - it would be a really hand feature, it saves me lots of time having to extract pages and rename from VW pdf's.
The new autotext features are great but think being able to export with page numbers as names of PDF's would be extremely useful.
Thanks . . . -

RE: [Plugin] Eclate_Deplace (fragmentation-exploded view)
Apologies - just realised I was updating the 2013 plugins folder not the 2014 one. It works perfectly as always!
Thanks -
RE: [Plugin] Eclate_Deplace (fragmentation-exploded view)
Hi Pilou,
Just wondered if you have any plans to update this plugin for 2014? Its an amazingly useful plugin and I use it almost daily.
Thanks in advance

RE: [Plugin] !AdditionalPluginFolders - v5.4a - 27 Sep 20
Thanks TIG - will play with this tomorrow. Have set the additional plugins setting to force it to ask if I want to use the non-standard plugin folder every time SU opens which seems to work for now.
Thanks

RE: [Plugin] !AdditionalPluginFolders - v5.4a - 27 Sep 20
Hi,
Ive been using the additional plugins folder with great success until recently. Im now not able to install extensions and am not sure what the problem is. Ive downloaded a couple of .rbz to the folded I have designated as my additional plugins folder. I have then gone to Window>Preferences>Extensions and gone to install extensions but Im now getting a message that tells me "This extension will have the ability to access the filesystem on your computer. Do not grant access to this lightly; be sure you trust the author. Do you want to install the extension." If I click yes it then takes me to an admin user name and password page? I had this working fine before but now for some reason SU won't load the plugins in this folder. Can anyone help..?
I have deleted the 000_aditional plugins folder and have the following installed in my main plugins folder;
AdditionalPluginFolders - v4.2a - 23 Oct 13
LibFredo6.rbz
Can anyone help me to resolve this ...? -

It doesn't rotate the axis, it simply moves the origin of the components - the insertion point.
Though, it could be made to also rotate the axis to match the current model axis.
Hi Thomthom - is the above possible. Used your Axes plugin a lot (thanks) but wonder whether you are able to add this functionality in to it. Being able to align the axis to the model axis would be great. I started a thread here

but thinking about it this thread is probably a better place for it.Thanks

Plugin - align & rotate axes of selected components / groups
Hi,
Im looking for a plugin that will allow me to align the axes of selected components. Ive tried Tomtoms axes rb
http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=30508
which is great but am looking for functionality that allows me to rotate the axes too so they align with the model axis. ie what I want is for all the axes of the selected components to be at the front, left, bottom of the components AND for them all to have the z axis pointing up. Starting to playing around with dynamic components and realising that Axes are pretty critical! Is this possible and can anyone point me in the right direction please.
Thanks sketchucators..... -
RE: Plugins folder permissions and PC secruity
Thank you TIG - this is just the kind of info I was after. I'll print this out and sit back down with the IT guys on Monday and see what we can come up with.
@tig said:
Your IT guys are on a sticky wicket if they want to control ALL plugins use, because you can download a plugin to any folder you have full rights to
We don't have permissions to anything other than our user folders (my docs ect) and we only download .rb and .rbs files from sketucation / smustard that have reviews and credible history but yes I get what you are saying. As I said I fully understand the need for PC security, just want an easy workaround (which you have provided) that enables me make full use of the flexibility and power that plugins provide in SU. Hopefully this will be ok with our IT guys.
Thanks again for the speedy response - as always much appreciated.... -
Plugins folder permissions and PC secruity
Hi all,
Our IT security settings have been changed recently at work and our security and permissions settings have been removed meaning we can't download and install files onto our PC's. While I totally understand the need for PC security Im struggling to get the IT department to understand why I need read and write permissions to the plugins folder. Im being told that Im not allowed to read / write to any system folder and that I need to ask for someone to come and grant me access to the plugins folder every time I want to install an new plugin which isn't really practical. Ive been told to download ALL the plugins and then just turn off the ones I don't need - after I explained that there were thousands of them and that there are updates to existing plugins and brand new plugins being written daily I said I'd go away and see if there is any other way around it.Im hoping that I can just get access to read and write to this folder as per TIGs post on this thread:
http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=54054
Ive read that if I run Sketchup as admin
http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=52462&start=30
I will have read / write permissions but not sure again if my IT department will see this as a security threat.Has anyone come up against this and solved it either by managing to convince IT departments that its not a threat or by making SU load plugins from a 'non system' folder ie. putting a plugins folder in 'my documents' or similar where I do have permissions. I found this thread detailing how to do this on SU8 but it sounds like there are issues with some plugins that have to be in the actual plugins folder.
http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=35877I really just want to be able to use SU in the way I always have so am looking for either:
- a simple low tech solution that won't worry the IT department and raise concerns about a security issue1. some convincing advice or info that explains why having read and write permissions for the plugins folder is not a security threat
Any help greatly appreciated as always...

RE: [Plugin] Eclate_Deplace (fragmentation-exploded view)
Hi TIG, Pilou,
Thanks - had come around to that conclusion but thanks for confirming. Pilou, with outlier closed I have had no crashes and don't seem to have to run radial move first to get Eclate Deplace to work. As TIG says from now on I'll make sure I have the outliner window shut when doing anything with Eclate Deplace.
Thanks again for your help and Pilou thanks for a great plugin - I use it all the time and its a massive time saver for me...! -
RE: [Plugin] Eclate_Deplace (fragmentation-exploded view)
Have found a work around for this but still not got to the bottom of it. SU crashes pretty consistently if I run Eclate Deplace and have the outliner window open? So have been making sure I save, collapse the outliner window, open radial move first and then run eclate deplace. This seems to avoid the crashes but have no idea why...

RE: Speed up Raster and Hybrid modes ?!
Thank you thank you thank you.....

- You should disable auto rendering on the model tab.
- Reload reference by clicking on the right button on a scene.
- Nevermind the yellow warning icons as they don't show on an export.
- Render the specific scene you need.
- When you have the time reload the wholed document. A fast way is to click on the auto render again an go take a coffee.
This has quite literally given me back hours of my life and make LO a lot more pleasurable to use! Love when you find a nifty little solution to a vexing problem...

RE: Are you satisfied with LO dimension tools?
Much obliged DaveR!!!
Hadn't realised you could double click onto individual lines in dims.
Thanks -
RE: Are you satisfied with LO dimension tools?
The ability to adjust the extensions that run of the top of dimensions would be great. I find them way to long and they mean that I can't fit dimensions close enough to each other when stacking them.

RE: [Plugin] Eclate_Deplace (fragmentation-exploded view)
Thanks Box - tried and no joy Im afraid. Think its an issue with a graphics card. Going to sort it next week some time (hopefully)...
Cheers

RE: [Plugin] Eclate_Deplace (fragmentation-exploded view)
Installed a new graphics card recently but a colleague of mine has the same machine and had the same card installed at the same time and no problems.
Have removed all plugins from my plugins folder and installed only eclate deplace and still getting crashes every time... Arrrrrgh!
Going to have to make exploded diagrams manually for now..... -
RE: [Plugin] Eclate_Deplace (fragmentation-exploded view)
Yes - tried to draw 3 boxes in a new model and run the plugin and it crashed?
Stumped....
