Any AI image generation relies on the input image to have some level of clarity.
You don't get any real control over materials.
Try it out with and already existing model to get a feel for it.

@Rich-O-Brien Get off my lawn!
The right side bar's text is kind of small for my aging eyes. Can you make the font bigger?
We'll be tweaking as we go so expect improvements. As you can imagine migrating was a big challenge. Keeping historical stuff was important.
So poke around for a bit before piling on the requests

For some reason I am drawn to the material. So much so I ended up look for real world interior shots. My first thought was some type of galvanised steel.
You actually mimicked camera positions of photographs!

If you jump between real world shots and your renders its nuts!
If that is path tracing then they have a bit of catchup to do to get it to same levels as competitors.
My opinion is this is some type of hybrid path-tracing that utilizes realtime effects. The DOF in particular looks like realtime DOF because it is struggling to blur correctly as it moves from focal distance to unfocussed. Or its method to do DOF is still not as good as a competitors.
Unreal added path tracing initially as a tool to compare realtime with path tracing results. This allowed those using realtime to tweak scenes to get as close as possible to a photoreal result. It's intent was to not be a production ready rendering solution.
That said it is still a very competent rendering solution but cannot be compared to Vray, Redshift etc as those have years in the game making both biased and unbiased light path engines.
But from a realtime aspect Epic is as far ahead as anyone could be.
When you add a root folder every child and nested folder gets added to the dropdown list.
In the panel itself you get the more typical folder based structure.

@gullfo Rich, when can we start filling up the suggestion box? I only have two things.
Be gentle Gus. Its been a huge undertaking to get the old content into this newer system.
I'd love if users just poked around for a few days to see how it works and feels.
But if you see or experience a genuine system error or unusable feature let us know.
You can put them here as I subbed to this thread
Just when you think 'I can render' the legend returns and reminds me that I can't.
The attention the detail is insane. I'm in awe
8 cars + 2 engines = $550 according to this listing.
I suppose its whatever you feel it is worth. Those are ~$50 per model which seems like a good price considering the work involved.
If I desperately needed a high quality model of a train it good value.
I know a company that buys his ship models for port training videos and those are $120/ship
@pixelcruncher I hope its a toggleable feature. Having full control over sun position is important for artistic control.
Plus the ability to add more than one directional light is also important. So I would not like that support for SketchUp sun position removes that ability too.
Maybe a 4th light that represent SketchUp sun or if I right click a Di-Light I can set it to SketchUp position.
@magixman7 If you need account help email support[at]sketchucation.com
@massimo I'm gonna try this in Rayscaper. It uses the newer PBR disney shader and I wonder how it handles glass when you apply real world properties to both geometry and the shader.
It has a classic glass shader along with the 'Fast' glass. But when I see how Thea produced such accurate results it would be interesting to see.
Thanks for sharing that. The glass reflections really were on point in your renders and now I can see why.
Go signup at TurboSquid and see whats up with it. That would be the premiere place to sell models like your trains.

This was my thinking: have a context menu on the directional light that says sync with SketchUp sun position or have a tick box in the directional light config sync from Sketchup. Then, it would track it in real-time. Option two would be the logical path to quickly support sun animations for shadow studies.
Both sound solid. I used 2 directional light in my Table Lamp scene. Having multiple Di-Lights for me is important to really match real world shadowing effects that a single light cannot achieve.
As long a SketchUp Sun support doesn't impact the flexibility I'm happy to see it.
My preference if lights is getting discussed would be Area Light support
At this point I'm convinced your trying to make the Wizard of Oz machine...

Great modelling but why no Ambient Occlusion style?
@pixelcruncher The issue without still have the plane in SketchUp would be it blocking your view.
Your point and directional components are great because they are not intrusive. So a similar setup to that would be perfect....

Was really needed to rename New to Recent?
We didn't rename anything. Its the newer software's naming convention. We will take a look at URL slug

I'd prefer 'edit' pencil button not to be buried in dropbox menu
So would I....will see if there's an option to customise button positions

What happened to private messaging? (and how can I see my old ones)?
We still have the older forum. Private messages are not capable to be migrated so we'll provide a means to download your messages to CSV once we finish resolving issues here.
@Dave-R Nothing comes close to SketchUp for native screenshots. Even minus shadows it's so easy to read the drawing.

what will humans do?
We will continue to invent things and compete for resources. Which we've done for centuries.
Maybe with society having more time for worthwhile projects we could improve things for everyone. Revolutionary changes come with pain and sacrifices.
