Best free substance painter for free?

Hi all, I am considering learning a substance painter type program. My first call is to see if anybody here uses a free alternative that is the most intuitive.

@L-i-am Only free Painter like tool I know of is ArmorPaint

But getting something of the calibre of Painter for free is unlikely. If you purchase Substance Painter through Steam you circumvent the Adobe subscription model.

@L-i-am I would recommend quixel mixer (https://quixel.com/products/mixer/win/2022.1.1), especially now that you can claim all megascans for free for now (https://forums.unrealengine.com/t/access-legacy-megascans-on-bridge-and-quixel-com/2142664).
