    • RE: Printing to scale

Okay, I did finally figure out the Model scale issue in Layout, I had to click on the import within the template.
now how do I get the background grey color out of the Sketchup Import?
When I print straight from sketchup it does not print, when I import to LayOut,
      I get this background color.
      any insights?
      thanks

    • RE: Printing to scale

      Thanks for the feedback,
the model is an architectural model,
if my print scale was 1 to 1 I would need 5402 pages!!!
I want to "print to scale".
I have tried 1"in drawing" to 8' in the "in model"
it does not translate to printable scale.
this seems not only odd but impractical.
      any other insights?
thanks again for your time and experience

p.s. I did try to "send to Layout"..followed the "new tips" info but my "sketchup Model"
info menu does not highlight the supposed choices as mentioned in the tip?
      this is so nonintuitive...

    • RE: Printing to scale

Okay, could someone please tell me the "infinite wisdom" of the sketchup crew to create a "print to scale" monster as this?
Was anyone awake at there developers meetings?
This non ability to print to scale is not only frustrating, it clearly limits the potential of this program, in MHO.

p.s. tried the PDF thing too, it also was "not to scale"
does anyone have any suggestions besides this trial and error method?
      Is layout any better?
Or do I have to export to a real CAD program?

    • RE: Printing elevations in scale

      I REALLY don't get this.
I just want to print my floor plan and elevations to scale.
Why can I not just say "print" options dialogue box comes up, and I say the scale I want to print the drawings in...
I have tried for an hour to print a floor plan to scale.
      What is going on?
      thanks

    • Printing in Layout

Okay, first time to print from SU, got some issues/questions.
First, why do I get the "grey background" imported from SU on to the file and how to eliminate it.
2nd, I cannot adjust the "bounding box" size by grabbing the sides, they do not highlight in red, all that I can do is resize it by pushing the arrows and corners. I cannot reduce the size of only a side or top or bottom.
I can only rescale it or "compress" the side.
3rd. I am in a template, ask for a new page and it comes up blank, not the next page, properly numbered from the template...?
      thanks

    • RE: Mac to PC file transfer issue.

      the purge did not work,
what I did was took everything that was on layers back to layer 0, put the entities in groups and components, and have tried to sort things out via the outliner.
the file size dropped from 11.8 megs to 1.2! So that was a one thing that contributed to the large file size.
I sent the file to my engineer, but he has yet to respond...it is the weekend.
thanks again for your support and insights.

    • RE: Mac to PC file transfer issue.

At first it seemed easy...then, the compressed file was 4.8megs...too big, I then tried 3d warehouse..the file had to be in the KML format...okay, learned about that but couldn't figure out how to get it into that format or why I would want to as it is not about a specific location on earth, in reality it is, and I do hope to link it to our GPS maps here, but that was down the road.
any thoughts on how to get it into 3d warehouse without KML?

the file is 11.8 so I guess I will have to figure out how to compress it and send it.
Just an old dawg having to learn more new trix.
      So give me some time.
      thanks

    • RE: Mac to PC file transfer issue.

Okay, is there a limit to the size of file that can be uploaded as the file seems to not want to "attach"
If I can figure out how to attach it I would more than welcome your feedback.

    • Mac to PC file transfer issue.

I have a file of an architectural model that I successfully sent to a Mac machine.
But my engineer, who is on a PC, gets a "invalid file format" message.
      Any thoughts on this,
when he sent the file back to me, I could open it fine.
      the file size is 11.8megs.

is there a certain way to "save as" ?
he has downloaded sketchup7, as was able to receive a smaller file that I sent just fine, a handrail.
      but the larger file....
he has 1 gig of ram, could that be an issue?
any insights would be most helpful as I am quite stuck.

    • RE: SketchUp Mac to Pc Help

I am getting similar issues, my model is done on a MacBookPro, 10.5.6 and sent to a PC machine with one gig of ram.
they downloaded Sketchup and cannot open the larger model 11.8megabites, but can a small handrail model..
I have sent this to another mac machine and it opened fine,
we did the window>model info> statistics thing, it said everything was okay
still having issues with the PC machine being able to open the larger model.
any body got any ideas what to do???
      thanks

    • RE: Leopard hang fix

      SketchUp Pro 7 still crashing,
I am on a MacBook Pro, 2GHz, latest sketchup, OS 10.5.6
tried the ThawUp and still crashing.
I can create a crash by going into layers and hit add layer....
sometimes just SU crashes, some times the spinning beach ball of death..
      any thoughts or insights.
      next stop the Genius Bar....
