Thanks for the comment. I use 3ds and then export by material. In this way all is grouped by material in C4D. You can also use Collada. It imports with materials and textures in C4D. But I don't like the hierarchy when importing collada in C4D.

Living Room ( SU+CINEMA4D+VRAY )
Hi Everybody,
I'm working on my first interior render with Vray for C4D (CINEMA 4D). Love some feedback on the renders.
Model done in SU (still can't beat SU's ease of use). Rug is done in Cinema 4D with Vray Fast 2 Fur Option.
I'm using Cinema 4D as sort of a big brother of sketchup. I first model in SU and then I import to C4D.
I'n C4D I can do al the things SU won't let me do. Large Models, Trees ( Xfrog, Onyx etc ), Instancing and distribution of vegetation. The workflow works pretty well for me. Here are my first interior attempts.Greetz Twan

RE: Dune Grass Garden
Hi Chriss,
Thanx for the comment. No clipmap/bilboards. I only used 3d models for planting. I used the new proxy2 feature in vrayforC4D. It works ery well with cinema cloner objects and surface spread.

Dune Grass Garden
Heyz Everybody,
It has been a while since the last post. lately i'm diving into the world of trees, plants and schrubs . In my opinion the are very important in a exterior render. I find the distribution and placing very hard.
Model done in sketchup. Export to Cinema 4D. In Cinema 4D I did the plant distribution. I used VrayforC4D for the render.
Love some feedback on this one. I was going for a Dutch Dune/Sea situated villa. I'm thinking about doing another version in a more tropical setting.Greetz Twan

RE: Should I upfrade my PC?
Hi zoom123,
Your sketchup problemo will not be solved by upgrading pc. Large models with a lot of plants etc will always be a problem for sketchup. Your best option is exporting to another 3d application like cinema4d, 3dmax, or blender (free), and do the planting in there.

RE: Indigo render issues
Hi Mike, when rendering lights you have to switch from reinhart to camera.

Any chance of using existing components as leaves (preferable several different simultaneously) as a compliment to the "built in"?
+1
yes, this would be a welcome adittion to the plugin. Like in the component spray plugin. The textures that come with the original Ivy Generator Script have a young and old leaf texture. These can be used to make components.

RE: [Plugin] Sketchup Ivy

Sure.
I opened the UI (from plugin menu) I started creating ivy but decided my ball (wanted it to grow over ball) was too big, so I exited by clicking the close X, resized the ball and tried to start Ivy again, it was checked in menu by no matter what I did the UI did not show again.
Same here,
I do like the way this Ivy plugin is going. Nice interface, and I thank you are on the right track. Simple Ivy can be made, and i did a few testrenders with indigo and the results are nice. But for large walls covering Ivy you have to make several seperaty ivy bushes I think because of bugsplat when going over 150 branches. But thanxs for the hard work so far, Keep it up and this wil be a very welcome plugin

Good png - cutout resources?
Hi everybody,
I've been searching the internet for any good PNG cut-outs of plants and trees. But so far I haven't found very much. I can't find any good hedges and other shrub material. Maybe we can start a list of site's?
Here is one I've found. It's posted here before I think. But its a start

RE: [Plugin] SU2POV 3.5
Hi Didier,
I realy like your plugins, but please excuse me for asking but what is the reason behind SU2POV? I mean, aren't there enough render app to render a SU scene/model. Or am I missing something. Is there a special reason for developing this app? Can SU2POW do something the others can't?

Hi Kev,
I really like your design so far. It reminds me of the Atom.
Good luck with the rest of the model.

RE: Group/Component to Layer?
Thanx for the quick response Chris . After I read your post I felt realy stupid I just missed this option completely. I found entity info but because I didn't make a new layer yet, it only showed me 1 layer so I couldn't choose.
Now I understand that I have to make the layer first and then I can flip them .
Thanx for the tip.Greetz Twan

Group/Component to Layer?
hi Everybody,
This might be a stupid question, bu I'm asking anyway cause I can't find the option in SU.
Is it possible to move a group or component to a specific layer with a plugin. I'm asking because I have a large part of a model and merged it with the rest of the model but I forgot to put it in a different layer. The part is rather big so I don't want to copy it to a new layer, because this takes to much time.

White Stairs
Hi Everybody,
Been a while since the last post. Here's a Hallway/Stairway I rendered. The Model was made by Sketchnl. I textured it and rendered in Indigo. I tried to stick to the Theme. White . But Its hard to render an all white room.
Love some feedback on the render. feedback on the model will be passed on to sketchnlGreetz Twan

RE: Ivy Generator
Hi Kris,
The last two evenings I also have been playing with this ivy generator. I love the app, getting the Ivy back in SU is a real pain in the ***. after a few tests I'm using this workflow at the moment, but I hope there is an easier way.
export model from SU in OBJ file. Open OBJ file in Ivy Generator. Let the Ivy grow in the app. Then export obj file+mat.
The first time I tried using OBJ import plugin by TIG. This doesn't work. Or maybe it does but I don't want to wait a day or two.
I decided to import the obj in Vue to try and export it again as 3ds file. But Vue also decided to not cooperate. It freezes on export. Don't know if it will eventualy defreeze, but I decided not to wait for it.
Next I gave Cinema 4D a try. import OBJ file to Cinema 4D and then export to 3ds file. Cinema 4D for some reason has no problems and converts the OBJ to 3ds rather quick.
Then I import the 3ds file in SU. Then I noticed that the materials are not imported. The material names do show up in the material browser in SU so I decided to link the ivy materials ( leafs, and branch texture ) to the SU materials using Indigo.
I managed to get two ivy models in my architectural model. I put them in a seperate layer because otherwise SU wont work anymore ( another good reason for 64 bit I think )
I wil post a pic as soon as my render is finished.

RE: Method for realistic towel and bathrobe, any ideas?
Hi Mike,
It all depends on the render engine. If you want the "real" thing you'll have to use displacement. ( Indigo, Thea , Maxwell, Fryrender, Cinema 4D . if using a render app that doesn't have displacement options, I would go with normals in kerkythea combined with a bump.
in the att. render I used a displacement map made with pixplant 2. Render made with Indigo. I was pretty pleased with the result on the towel. Nevermind the scenery and the design. Not my best work

RE: Wood Plank Trouble!
Cool can't wait to give it a try. It's a bit like the floor generator's that are available for 3d Max. Maybe an Idea for a new Plugin: A Floor Generator for SU
