LightUp is still early in development but already IMO one can produce nice images and have quite good animations and panoramas with very little effort. Also you can export now your models to game engines such as Unity. Adam is planning a lot of new stuff in a future. IOR , Caustics and colour bleed are all planned in new material editor to come. As it stands you can still do a lot of stuff amongst other you can simulate volumetric lights, you can animate textures, you can use DC to animate objects etc. Also AO is much more improved with 1.5 and you can now control the strength.

@puma said: It looks good but I think that the tank has too much reflection on the renders. A tank isn't supposed to have any reflections, I think, otherwise it would be visible. Yeah I know, but it looked like a toy without that bit of refelction for some reason. The refelction just helped set it down more in the environment. I think I should have given it some bump or roughness though. Thanks for comment anyway @malaise said: The second render is so close to a newspapers'picture, that I'm now convinced how easy we can be manipulate.... Very interesting topic.... MALAISE Thanks Malaise. yeah I wanted it to look like a World War 1 shot or something. I think its my favourite too

Hi, SketchUp can only render lines of 1px thickness or more. But by placing your SketchUp model in LayOut (you'll need SketchUp Pro), you can define the thickness of lines in points, not pixels- and thereby reduce the visual appearance of line weight. john .

I LOVE these renders! Such a beautiful balance between hyper-realism and artistic license: the distorted, almost motion blurred foreground and the deliberate banding in the sky are perfectly dramatic for highlighting such a simple design. What render software are you using and how much of the final image is post-processing?

Thanks for the advice everyone. I was using the mouse + scroll the whole time and not alt + right click drag. At the moment it's hard to get the angle I want, but I'm sure a bit of experience will sort that out. So I got into a model (was just testing the church of light) and found it extremely difficult to set up the interior - I would have already ruled interiors out if I had not seen kwistenbiebel's example above. I have a pretty good feeling that i'll still be using vray for interiors though

No this is v-ray for sketchup. @juanjo06 said: beautiful... how did you render the animation, better said, what is the other software u used to join the vray image rendered. i just know how to render the each frame but i don´t know how to make the video. Thanks, I used windows movie maker which comes with all vista machines

k I think all the links are finally working, sorry for the confusion but I was trying to link something with better quality - veoh didn't turn out to be much better than youtube either, despite going pro. Anyway it looks better on my computer, you'll have to take my word @kwistenbiebel said: Great one Prince! The wood material shows nicely. You will agree with me that SU needs better ways to move the camera. I am struggling to make more realistic camera motion myself using the limited SU camera tools. Vray is a good partner for animations. Too bad it doesn't take geometry changes per frame into account , making object animation a no-go unfortunately. Neat stuff you're producing here. Thanks for sharing. Thanks very much! Yup I agree about the camera in su alright. Your animations are totally flowing now though - maybe I should invest in animate (though can't really justify it) - I think i'll sit it out till whaat's plugin arrives Vray is really a great rendering package as well - I highly recommend it personally. Saw your thread on the agvis forum too, indeed it is a shame object animation is not taken into account with vray. I'm not finding it so easy to find the right HDRI's either, none of them really seem appropriate to spherical environmental mapping. Evermotion's free skies are the only images that I have gotten to look good so far. But i'll keep messin around anyway!

sounds about right, it's an imported 3ds tree. Getting rid of it corrects my shadow problems, but podium still won't render shadows however.. Thanks for the reply
