Well, in Spain if you do something, the work can last for long, very long... 😆

I know. I remember those looong lunches down in Andalusia. Took like 3-4 hours 😲 We practically spent the whole siesta time in the restaurants.

I don't like that kind of "work lunch". You know, after a work visit you have to have lunch with the client. Fortunatelly that's not common for me. I prefer to do it at home.

Anyway, last time I had a "siesta" was 10 years ago... 😄

You don't offend. Semana Santa in Spain (literal translation "Holy Week") began 5 hundred years ago. But I don't know what is doing the police of the United States there 😆

Displacement maps are the same as bump maps - grayscale heightmaps. As for normal maps, I don't really know how they work...

I have found a lot about normal maps here:

but it's written in chinese, or C++ ... 😆 I don't know if it may interest you, I was spending my time a bit (as I don't understand a single word 😄 )

I have no idea about programming, except an unfinished Interactive Fiction game 5 years ago in the "popular" inform 6 language 😲 😆 😆

By the way, do you know how to turn a normal map into a bump map? I want to use Bitmap to Mesh with a normal map, but first I have to turn it into a bump map...

They have to pay lawyers for defending their patent against big corporations... 😒

      or, they think it's smarter to sell 1 @ $999 instead of 50 @ $29

I say that because I recently read why graphene wasn't patented (they have won 2010 Nobel Prize):

      http://www.nature.com/news/2010/101007/full/news.2010.525.html

      @unknownuser said:

You haven't yet patented graphene. Why is that?

We considered patenting; we prepared a patent and it was nearly filed. Then I had an interaction with a big, multinational electronics company. I approached a guy at a conference and said, "We've got this patent coming up, would you be interested in sponsoring it over the years?" It's quite expensive to keep a patent alive for 20 years. The guy told me, "We are looking at graphene, and it might have a future in the long term. If after ten years we find it's really as good as it promises, we will put a hundred patent lawyers on it to write a hundred patents a day, and you will spend the rest of your life, and the gross domestic product of your little island, suing us." That's a direct quote.

No, I am not against all patents, but they must be limited, like software patents. And I shut up my mouth, I don't want to start an offtopic about patents. 😄

Anyway in Europe there are not software patents

😲 really? so how does MS, Apple, HTC etc getting away with it then?

Well, I haven't been completely right. You can read about the problem here:

      http://eupat.ffii.org/int/intro/index.en.html

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_patents_under_the_European_Patent_Convention

I don't like software patents, but there are lobbies here trying to export the terrible american model. 😡

Youtube description says "Patent Pending"... I believe that I am not going to enjoy this plugin (I only use free ones, as I do it for fun, so I believe this will be a commercial one).

Anyway in Europe there are not software patents, so someone could develop a plugin for use only outside the United States, no?

    • RE: Cool plugin idea

I had another idea, but I don't know if it may be useful.

.skz extension. You save the file to .skp, the plugin compresses it to .zip, and changes the extension from .zip to .skz.

Size of archives may be much smaller with sketchup files. Of course, the plugin reads .skz files too.

HvanEssen, thanks a lot 😄. You'll win some day, as soon as your team plays football, but yesterday it didn't play, well, it played Karate or something like that... 😞 Anyway don't worry, I am sure you will win and you'll see that 😉

I have a headache today, although I went to bed soon. Yesterday all the people was in the street celebrating it

And well... if there is a photo that resumes the match, is this... 😞

      Pichuneke,
I like your reaction but is not quite correct because, it is not dutch blood but german. So we are honored the king of Spain, with our German blood.

      William of Nassau
      am I, of German blood.
      Loyal to the fatherland
I will remain until I die.
      A prince of Orange
      am I, free and fearless.
      The king of Spain
      I have always honored.

But when we are going is history, then you can say that South-Africa and Kaapstad are founded and raised from dutch people. That is way they have a language with a dutch accent in it.

With our German Blood and our Spanish King and the Dutch Strength we will win this cup. Just like the european cups from Barcelona comes from the foot of the dutch players.

I was joking, sometimes I have limitations writting in english language, I hope you understand that I wish that the best wins next sunday 😉 Anyway I copied the translation of the anthem from Wikipedia.

I know that spanish are not very loved there (Something about the Duque de Alba to frighten the kids? 😄 ). Don't worry, it's the past.

I have to leave, I haven't corrected the text, sorry for the english! 😄 😉

Note: I was in South Africa 10 years ago. I know the dutch accent when they speak english... sometimes I couldn't understand anything! 😆

      Pinchuneke,

Very nice this clip because it is a dutch women who sings in German language about Spain.

But i like this one more http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pczv38Q81F8

a song from a very famous dutch singer, who died on a very young age

HvanEssen, I have been reading, and someone says that the National Anthem of Netherlands, called Wilhelmus, says this:

      William of Nassau
      am I, of Dutch[14] blood.
      Loyal to the fatherland
I will remain until I die.
      A prince of Orange
      am I, free and fearless.
      The king of Spain
      I have always honoured.

Video with lyrics of the fragment (sorry, this time I wasn't able to insert the video):

Does it means that Netherlands is going to lose next sunday to prove your loyalty to the kings of Spain? The king Juan Carlos can't go after a surgical operation, but the Queen and the Prince are going. 😆

      😉
